The Romulans and the Klingons were literally created as an allegory for the Cold War in the series.

Our shop wheelbuilder who has been at it for close to five decades and studied his trade with the Shimano family relatives, uses vegetable oil for spokecutting and chainsets. At the rate it has to be reapplied on a well-maintained bike, slight degradation hardly matters.

I think the surge diodes and polyfuses in my brain just soft-tripped attempting to channel enough brainworm energy to parse that mess.

Controlled, higher voltage pulses to de-sulfate the battery.

I got up from my soldering station yesterday to stretch, turned my torso, and promptly saw all of the Shrimp Colors when half the joints in my body cricklesnickled in sequence.

ATC requires a certain personality, not just skill sets, and the average gamer is a near perfect philosophical opposite.

Funny thing about the Frankenrunner was, there was no desire to hide it, so much as there was just. COVID supply necessity. It was a child of the disruption that wrought, and it was either "Frankenrunner" or "no runners at all".

I still think a revisit of it with a better riser would be sweet.

Stopped, tried to gently nudge it into flying away, couldn't, scooped it off my nose without getting stung.

Go pollinate something tastier, little lass!

Proper test of cycling cool nerves today.

Bee in my helmet underneath the visor and crawling over my glasses while I'm sandwiched by car traffic on the ratbike.

Labor Unions that negotiate with management to address worker grievances were the compromise to stop coal miners dragging their boss out of his mansion and beating him to death with shovels and then tossing his body down the shaft that three child workers fell down the previous week.

Cream cheese and thermal paste must be related substances. Doesn't matter how tidy I am when applying either, or how well I wash my hands and clean my work area afterwards... an hour later I'm finding smears of the stuff where it has no logical reason to be.

Funny thing is, the Frankenrunner was a BAC8-- family device but with a custom daughtercard on it. I still figure another go at that, but with a less gonk interface of daughtercard to controller would be pretty wizzo.

A GRIN Technologies Phaserunner motor controller. The bare stainless finish type, with a shiny steel casing, mounted in a fin-ridged anodized aluminum heat spreader and heatsink expansion. Black cabling snakes out of frame to the left, and it's sitting on a bit of shop-towel after having just undergone a little electrical surgery. One of Siddeley's custom touches to this repaired and recycled motor controllers is a pentagonal laser-engraving badge-art from XCOM on top in black oxide, with finer print reading "MUTARE AD CUSTODIAM" over the stylized biohazard symbol below in the pentagonal shield. It also reads "There are many Phaserunners, but this one is also mine. - S"

I love my little mutant Phaserunner. Did some preventative maintenance on it; Odd cable boot on the XT connector's for a Hall grounding reference splice to route around damage. Original prototype Phasesink mount.

Just so you know what kind of SF nerdworms I've got swirling in my head, I briefly interpreted that as "SLDF coms" and half my head went hareing off on "We're trolling Kerensky today!", the other half on "Oh heck, ComStar!"

The fascist "The Enemy is weak and pathetic and ridiculous" / "The Enemy is an existential threat! Obey the state! Fight The Enemy!" dichotomy, except it's weird libs rehashing it.

It's also ABS. Achieving that would require sitting in direct sunlight with something to lens it.

My repair and salvage queue has been extra odd today.

Production new device. Never in customer hands. Factory packing and firmware. Electronics intact, pristine packaging.

ABS casing looks like it detoured through an air fryer.

I have *questions*

Surely these laws which have not deterred them in the slightest will suddenly start deterring them if we only finger-wag a little harder?

Also, @mark-carney.bsky.social - maybe, uh, some actual leadership, mate? There's literal fascism boiling up within an afternoon's drive of almost your entire constituent base and miiight maybe be time to start planning for that?
