I really hope this is a double album.

Es werde (Neon)licht.
Of course, no trip to Leipzig is complete with a visit to the Pinguin.
Es werde (Neon)licht.
In the second chapter of ‘Neon Deutschland’ we go on a search for neon signs in the former DDR … starting in Leipzig.
Es werde (Neon)licht.
Let there also be Umlauts.
The first chapter of our new book is broken into sections devoted to the former East and former West Berlin; this sign – featuring your Weekend Umlaut – can still be found in the latter.
Es werde (Neon)licht!
In honour of our new book – ‘Neon Deutschland’ – we will spend the next few weeks posting some of our favourite images following the geographical order of the twelve chapters.
The first chapter is devoted to the Hauptstadt.
Today is the day:
NEON DEUTSCHLAND is officially out.
The book features over 360 photographs of fabulous neon signs from 45 different cities in Germany. It is published by Prestel Verlag and is available wherever good books are sold.

Artefact from another era.
It wasn't really a venue … it was literally a basement on the north side of Inverness Street (maybe beneath a record shop?). I remember it vividly, but it wasn't one of the usual Camden venues. And Crescent may, in fact, have been the headliners.
Hugely underrated band. (Fun fact: I saw one of their extremely rare live shows in some horrible Camden basement around the time this record came out.)
A most ingenious Umlaut.
This Umlaut has seen better days.
#WeekendUmlaut
Only one more week until ‘Neon Deutschland’ hits the shops. We’re beyond thrilled with how it turned out, and can’t wait for you to see it. Available for pre-order now:

Modern living.
Bonus long-weekend Umlaut.
Frohe Ostern / Happy Easter.
Your weekend Umlaut: two dots made to fit the available space.
The age of optimism.
Pils ‘n’ Thrills.
Night on a quiet street.
Yes, please do!
And my apologies: I never see IG messages (unless someone tells me they sent one, which rather defeats the purpose). Have just found yours and will send a full reply.
That’s a shame … would have loved to hear what an album called ‘Neon Deutschland’ might sound like.
(For some reason, I’m imagining a cross between Kraftwerk’s ‘Neonlicht’ and ‘Thief’-era Tangerine Dream.)
We are delighted to announce that our newest book, ‘Neon Deutschland’, will be released in mid-April from Prestel Verlag.
Putting this book together was a fantastic journey of discovery, and we can’t wait to share it with you.

Essential. Had no idea it was available on vinyl.

That type of antiques market is also a thing in ABQ. There is one in particular that has a few record areas … but in recent years the records have been overpriced and in extremely variable condition. The whole 'records are worth money now' phenomenon has attracted a lot of amateurs.
For a brief moment I misread ‘Britain’ in the subtitle as ‘Berlin’ and thought ‘Damn! They beat me to it.’ Would absolutely read this…
I have definitely been to that market hall in Shrewsbury (bought a Sun Ra record there). In France and Germany there is a pretty solid tradition of Flea Markets, and if you go to the right ones you can occasionally find some gems.
Absolutely: the two best shops I’ve been to recently were in Kassel and Würzburg.
