Exactly, I think a lot of roguelikes have for whatever reason shifted from focusing on exploration and survival to becoming as powerful as possible within the confines of the system. I think we need more of the former!
This is actually something I've noticed with feedback on Tomb of the Bloodletter as well. For whatever reason, players seem to respond especially angrily to obfuscated mechanics in this genre, despite mystery being one of traditional roguelikes' core joys imo.

In my games, when players press pause I actually increase the speed at which they experience reality by around 4,000%, thus making the game appear frozen!

The DLSS 5 thing is kind of interesting, because big-budget games have been blindly striving for gratuitous realism for decades now. I feel like there's partial responsibility on AAA studios for instilling (or at the very least failing to push against) that "most real" = "most good"
