Monster Manual - Cattle, Wild
That's right, ol Gygax took the space in his book for three separate entries for Bulls, Buffalo, and Wild Cattle. I'm done drawing bovids for now...
Posts by Dwoll
The main characters are Dwoll, a scientist who studied mythical creatures for many years with no recognition, Ariel, an angel who didn't fall so much as just wander away from Heaven, Q, the company's mysterious founder and financial backer, and Pan, a talking, floating snake missing his back half.
What is the TDG (Acronym Pending)?
It is a(n upcoming) webcomic about a pest control agency which specializes in mythical creatures. In a world where legends and myths have returned to earth, mankind struggles to adapt. The TDG is an important bridge between these two worlds.
This is an important update regarding your TDG (Acronym Pending) subscription.
(This will mean nothing to the people of bluesky but I thought it was important to post anyways)
Coincidentally, the Catoblepas was also the next creature for Summoner Saga. Here's the codex entry as a bonus (because I'm just going to re-use the drawing above for SS)
Monster Manual - Catoblepas
"This nightmare creature is loathsome beyond description and has no redeeming features. Its body resembles that of a huge, bloated buffalo and gives off an offensive odor. The catoblepas' neck is long and thin, and perched atop it is a big head,"
Monster Manual - Carrion Crawler
"Carrion crawlers strongly resemble a cross between a giant green cutworm and a huge cephalopod. They are usually found only in subterranean areas. The carrion crawler is, as its name implies, a scavenger,"
Fuck J.K. Rowling and every single thing to from that poisonous cancer pit of a person. Go read @tyrantisterror 's Wizard School Mysteries, go read from an author who isn't actively working to destroy human lives every waking moment, go read books where it is not a crime to just exist
It's hard to pick, but the most interesting to me is the marsupial yokai clade
I 🫀 bestiaries / encyclopedias / field guides / handbooks !
(Feel free to QRP with your own!)
Summoner Saga - Bonnacon
Watch out for the behind
I figured that if I was going to have stand-ins for all the mythological deities, I might as well include them anyways. If Final Fantasy can have Odin I don't see why Summoner Saga can't.
Summoner Saga - Cretan Bull
You may notice two things. 1: this bull doesn’t fit in a perfect square. This is because I’ve been finding it a bit too constrictive and want to break out a bit. 2: Poseidon is named dropped rather than a stand-in (like Dios in the place of Zeus for the Amalthean goat).
I've read references to southern and northern continents elsewhere, have you drawn up a map of the Fantasy Ecology setting?
Happy Saint Patrick's Day!

Monster Manual - Camel, Wild
"Single humped camels (dromedaries) are found only in very warm desert areas. The double humped (bactrian) sort are able to abide cold and even non-desert regions. All camels are able to go for up to two weeks without food or water."
Monster Manual - Bulette
"The bulette (or landshark) was thought to be extinct until recently when this horror reappeared. It was the result of a mad wizard's experimental cross breeding of a snapping turtle and armadillo with infusions of demons' ichor."

Various creature sketches: a hodag, Andvarri the dwarf in his fish skin, a boneless vampire, and the shell monster Skeljaskrimsli

According to Pliny, "when [the phoenix] becomes old it builds a nest ... then lays its body down upon them to die; that from its bones and marrow there springs at first a sort of small worm, which in time changes into a little bird,"

From a prompt which suggested a world where dragons are ball python or cat-sized. Each member of the TDG (minus Pan, plus that shadowy figure) has a dragon from their home culture(s): Dwoll a German lindworm and Iranian azdaha, Q a ryu, and Ariel a leviathan.
The last one doesn't have a title but she is Tiamat, the sea herself, mourning her slain husband Abzu, the underground fresh water. This caused her to birth all of these creatures and go to war against the gods.

A series on the "sons of the sea" from the Enuma Elish. As with all things, I would re-do these differently with some updated information, be ce'st la vie.

I tongue-in cheek parody of the "Know your Dragons" image that sometimes makes the rounds. Words aren't real! Nothing means anything! Aaaaaa

And we can't post dwarfs without following up with trolls. The world troll has been applied to many things throughout history, and here's a few of them.

Dwarfs, based off of Gould's "Dwarf-Names: A Study in Old Icelandic Religion"
(2019)
An illustration based on a Norwegian legend where a lindworm nested beneath a church. A Sami wizard helped get rid of it by climbing a tree surrounded by fire. The lindworm and its snake kindred died slithering through the fire, but also got the wizard.
I'm going to start uploading some old art here. From 2019, we have a parade of wisps and ignis fatui.
Monster Manual - Bull
"The bull is a dangerous opponent, being aggressive and easily aroused to anger. ... Such animals as the wild ox and the aurochs fall under this general class."
