As an adoptee....I have alot of issues with the "baby boxes" (hb350).
I feel like it's just the same 20-30 speaking up on bills (we know in Georgia currently only one parties bills are going to get to the floor). But yeah, is your Legislator standing up for you?? Pay attention.

I had been deleted it for years. However for my job -which can impact a lot of people- I need those up to the minute updates when I'm not able to be there or watch. That's why I need them to do the same over here on bluesky

👀 depends how this budget conference committee goes... Hopefully they're as eager to fulfill their ONLY constitutional obligation as they said in committee today.
I miss the Lady Whistledown of #gapol ...I just know there's a bunch of drama behind the scenes with sine die AND it's an election year....

@joesudbay.bsky.social clearly we have a long way to go to cover all districts. In these maps, Districts in blue have a Democrat running. Districts in gray do not. But I do know that the fighting 50 this year put out 68 candidates, compared to 24 last cycle.

And most of those families would probably qualify for the FUP housing voucher so they have housing....
Added work requirements for SNAP qualification just went into effect last month, and will take much-needed food assistance away from people who need it most: Veterans, parents, children leaving the foster care system, and unhoused people.
For more info see the FAQ's from Georgia DFCS:
According to a review of agency spending records for the same five-year period, DFCS spent more than $450 million on programs that can be used to keep families together. But the agency directed only a tiny portion — less than half of 1% — of the money toward housing assistance.
While this committee was happening, the division was planning to cut $8 million of supports for children and families. Requiring a hearing to happen with a joint House committee to figure out how to clean up the catastrophic mess that had resulted.
Grateful to have been asked to speak on behalf of these children and families.
Happy to be part of this.
Georgia officials announced that the government shutdown has required them to suspend new services that protect children from entering foster care and ensure family reunification — unless approved in writing by the state.
The dream, for me, has always been to be the place where folks who don't have somewhere to go for the holidays can feel at home. I hope one day we have a nice enough sized house to welcome even more people.
What happened to the "lady whistledown of #gapol"? I can't find their account anymore 😔
Reminder: "Terrible things are happening outside. At any time of night and day, poor helpless people are being dragged out of their homes... Families are torn apart; men, women and children are separated. Children come home from school to find that their parents have disappeared." -anne frank
After taking a week off to enjoy Dragoncon, had an extra week off with Covid. Returned back to work today and now I can't sleep....
Sooo these #georgiapower bills are outrageous... Wonder if there's in value in filing complaints or opinions with PSC, emailing them relentlessly and showing up to meetings

It's really hard to not feel helpless right now watching our country's ideals crumble and a genocide happening before our very eyes...
Is anyone else struggling with logging into @skylight.social ? It keeps giving me an "Authentication Error" message! I've tried uninstalling and re-downloading the app, but it's still doing it! #skylightsocial #skylight #help
Why don't state reps get back to you in Georgia? I've tried calling, emailing, leaving voicemails, their contact page, sending a letter, even DM on IG almost weekly since may. Nothing. I'm about to just start commenting on their posts.... #gapol #gagov #georgia #localpolitics #statepolitics
