Nice, love me some terminal tools!

Shambling mound once wrecked a party of eight on their way out of the dungeon. It was brutal. One PC set himself on fire inside the mound.
Continuing with Margaret St. Clair, one of the authors cited in the DMG's appendix N, I have read The Dolphins of Altair.
A psionic dolphin historian collaborates with three humans to flood the world. Trippy read.

Thank you!
The novel is quite thin and a quick read, so might be worth bumping to the top of the pile, esp. if you are in the mood for a little bit of post-apoc & mythical underworld.
I plan to read that one, as well as other two that supposedly form a trilogy (claim from her Wikipedia page). Also that gnoles short story.
Was quite an enjoyable read!
Too many thoughts for bsky format so I blogged them instead: attronarch.com/appendix-n-s...

Couldn't put it down, had some good twists. Looking forward to reading her other novels.
Just started reading this bad boy from the DMG appendix N. Started off quite strong, have been enjoying it so far.
Darn wizards and their castles!

Nice application of Markov chains!
Easy: It muste be GURPS Low-Tech which I've used with pretty much all TTRPGs I had run. Saved me so much time and research.
That aside, the beauty of LBBs are the vague parts, allowing you to recontextualise the game and rules and thus make them uniquely yours. That, to me, is the true magic of OD&D!
To your question---most certainly not. (To some extent yes in EPT, an OD&D hack by TSR). Social classes were heavily featured in Judges Guild materials, with a whole subsystem. Social classes were also featured in AD&D and were related to character classes.
Sounds like you are working with LBBs only, as opposed to full OD&D. Supplement I (Greyhawk) introduces some errata for LBBs. Some things like combat and spellcasting are clarified in the Strategic Review. Discussions in early Alarums & Excursions APA illuminate some other things.

I award 300 XP per report or artefact (drawing, meme, etc.) This XP also counts for new characters by the same player, but maxes out at 5000. That way players will start most of their new characters at level 3 after writing 20is reports.
Is the book any good?
I recently disovered this series and binged on all the books. What a wild ride it was. I cannot imagine producers being brave enough to show everything from the books, especially the ultraviolent and cruel parts, let alone all the dying...
Oh yeah, I also find S&W/OD&D Fighter more fun. Do note that OSE AF weapon proficiency is NOT the same as BECMI Weapon Mastery:
Weapon mastery was in BECMI, not BX. The former succeeded the latter after it was cancelled.
And happy birthday!
Mythmere Games fulfills from UK as well, so I'd recommend looking into thier Swords & Wizardry Complete Revised and Tomb of Iron God, a perfect starter combo.
BECMI (compared to B/X) fighter sees expansion in terms of additional manoeuvres and weapon mastery. AFAIK,it does not reintroduce same abilites as Oe fighter.
SESSION 169 REPORT
Adventurers got split in three groups, each in different part of the dungeon.
They do their earnest to reconvene. It goes better than expected, with only minimal losses.

Of the newer one it must be Majestic Fantasy Realms by @rconley.bsky.social. Absolutely awesome, packed and yet malleable enough for dropping in modules
