Our oldest had literally just walked in the door for her daytime shift. I turned, left his room to go get her so I could have her listen to his breathing. I was gone secondsā¦Iād estimate 30 seconds, before I returned with her & he was gone. Just that quick, just like that.

Iāve seen the 4-20 posts, but today is my exās birthday. He passed 26 days ago; 14 days before his 2-year anniversary dx w/stage IV cancer & just as I was finishing my 12-hour overnight shift at his home, in hospice care (5 days). Despite being divorced decades ago, we remained close.

Weāve had kittens/cats our whole life & altho each cat was different, they can get very local about their likes/dislikes.

I had a neighbor with 2 cats where she started giving them their wet food (we both gave about a teaspoonful/tablespoon once a day (they ate dry food twice/day, directions are on the bag, I use Iams), at 5am! So every day, 7-days/week they woke her up at 5am (loudly) for their wet food).

and chased me the last time I tried lol. His mama was a feral cat & I truly believe heās part feral too. After that, I learned to just let him be until I figured out what he liked/disliked.
The ONLY thing I put my foot down on is feeding of wet food (if you even decide to do that.

I just wanted to address something you asked about afa taking care of your kitty. He/she will make (most) of the rules. For example, when I got my kitten 8 yrs ago, I just wanted to pick him up and hold him. He hated it. Iāve picked him up less than 5x. I stopped trying after he growled at me
