I agree wholeheartedly with Sam. "if your problem with open access is that commercial publishers are hoovering up all the money, design open access interventions that specifically prevent commercial publishers from receiving your money"

The CRUK approach will badly harm their patient advocates.

I’ve written on how our recent genAI policy was made at @openlibhums.org Many open access publishers are waiting for clear global standards to be devised for the appropriate use and declaration of genAI in scholarly research and publishing. We’ve aimed to provide a flexible and extensible start.

I wrote the blog post behind our new Robin Hood @openlibhums.org poster! In it, I reflect on why divesting scholarly publishing from commercial interests and redirecting library budgets into #diamondOA is so urgent.

Fantastic work from Joe Muller, our @openlibhums.org Senior Publishing Technologies Developer! Joe explains how he integrated ROR into @janewayolh.bsky.social. Since Oct 2025, 74% of OLH articles & 43% of the backlist have ROR affiliations. This helps us link OLH articles to libraries #OpenAccess

Fantastic news! 👏 👏

If you care about the future of community-led diamond open access publishing, this is well worth a look. OJC is an important step towards mainstreaming #diamondOA and making it the norm rather than the exception.

It’s been a pleasure to have worked on our generative AI policy for the OLH for over a year. It’s been a fascinating, complex, but rewarding process. Our policy focuses on acceptable and responsible AI use, unacceptable use, and the transparent declaration of substantial and known genAI use.

Do take a moment to read the @openlibhums.org AI Publisher Policy. It's taken over a year to consult with editors of our 35 journals & get it right! Our Managing Editor
@simoneverett.bsky.social has stewarded this consultation & also published a report outlining the process itself. #OpenAccess
