Achingly beautiful trad song from Somerset, meltingly sung here with Graham Coxon.
While we're talking percentages, let's talk about the proposed cuts to NASA's science budget.
NASA is currently 0.36% of US federal spending. www.planetary.org/space-policy...
The proposed budget cuts NASA science by 47%.
NASA science is already on a shoestring, and that string is about to break

π― agreed!
Itβs just his interpretation. I love it! Very expressive, characterful playing.
Happy Earth Day! π

Day 23: Mozart - Piano Concerto No 23 in A major (I: Allegro) www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDUy...
Iβve loved this for 40 years. Eleven minutes of continuous, gentle & inspired melody. And this is a special recording, too.
Photo from Artemis II of mission specialist Christina Koch looking at Earth through a window on the Orion spacecraft, with Australia the main landmass in view.
βThe Moonβ¦ is a real place. And whenβ¦ we compare it to our home of Earth, it just reminds us how much we have in common. Everything we need, Earth provides. And that is somewhat of a miracle, & one that you canβt truly know until youβve had the perspective of the other.β ~ Christina Koch

Wait for it to focus...
Sound up...
Earthset, recorded by Reid Wiseman during the Artemis II lunar flyby.
The initial imperfect composition, and the phone hunting for focus makes this so much more human and familiar.
A celestial scene witnessed by only 28 of us in history...more

This rather creepy photo is Artemis IIβs heat shield underwater, as taken by the U.S. Navy. This is the first photo we have of the heat shield, and upon initial examination it doesnβt seem to have the char loss that Artemis Iβs had.

Star Trek The Next Generation scene. Young ensign Wesley Crusher (the boy) sits at a console on the bridge, but he's turned around like he's having a talk with safe and trustworthy adult who has walked up behind him. He looks sincere and earnest, as if it's a 'very special episode of Star Trek.' He's wearing his blue and blue and gold and red and blue again Wesley sweater, which is not a bad look, tbh. Closed caption reads, "drugs can make you feel good."

Day 21: Joni Mitchell - My Old Man (1971) www.youtube.com/watch?v=zREp...
Like everything else about this song, with its startling tune & hair-raising modulations, Joniβs piano playing is wonderfully alive - both utterly natural & instantly recognisable as her!

Day 3
Katie Mack has such a wonderful way of explaining the most mind-stretching possibilities, & having read her book several years ago it was a joy to hear her talk about the end of everything with Mike Wong. And also a #StarTrekDS9 episode Iβve always been fond of! ππΌπ

I havenβt seen it, because I know iβd struggle with it. Same with medical dramas; I can never watch something like Casualty especially, because waiting for some terrible accident to happen is nerve-wracking & then, to make it worse, they actually show it. It just terrifies me!
