H IS FOR HAWK is a difficult yet stunning depiction of grief — Moviejawn by Janet Reinschmidt, Staff Writer This film is not easy to watch, but it is also never boring, and at times it may even be cathartic for anyone who has gone through a similar loss.

MJ's @calamityjanet.bsky.social says, "One of the key reasons why this quiet film works, despite its laborious runtime, is Claire Foy’s brilliant and naturalistic acting."

#HIsForHawk is now playing in theaters.

This morning I kissed my girlfriend as I was taking her to work and a man on the street was shouting at people, mostly cars backing out of spots, and we sort of froze when we heard him, then he shouted LESBIANS RULE! at us as he kept walking… so at least he is supportive lmao

THE MYSTERIOUS GAZE OF THE FLAMINGO is a beautiful queer western melodrama that feels wholly original — Moviejawn by Janet Reinschmidt, Staff Writer Although the film is filled with violence, illness, and grief, it is equally filled with love, resilience, and care.

Diego Céspedes’ debut feature THE MYSTERIOUS GAZE OF THE FLAMINGO deftly balances violence and grief with love and care, writes Janet Reinschmidt @calamityjanet.bsky.social.

Thinking of Twinless and Kiss of the Spider Woman rn (both in my top 5, honestly top 3 films of this year so far) - but also the less good History of Sound, On Swift Horses, Wedding Banquet, and others… I guess Love Lies Bleeding (also a fave) did ok box office but better on streaming

I do feel slightly like a conspiracy theorist right now when I think about how every explicitly gay film that I’ve seen in the past couple years in theatres ended up having a limited release or bombing at the box office… like is Bottoms the last one that did well??

I’m blogging again because I haven’t been writing as much as I’d like… question is do I make a Substack or stick to my Wordpress that I don’t think anyone reads lol

The film is beautiful and gay and unabashedly political and poetic and just everything, a fav of this year so far and honestly would be shocked if it’s not an Oscar contender next year

MY SUNSHINE is a tender coming-of-age story that takes a painful turn — Moviejawn by Janet Reinschmidt, Staff Writer My Sunshine is at its best when the three leads are on the ice together, and the film is worth watching if only for the quiet coming-of-age storyline and the gauz...

MY SUNSHINE is a darker tale than its title suggests, with stunning cinematography and great performances from the three leads, says Janet Reinschmidt @calamityjanet.bsky.social.

Has anyone ever seen this?? Film returned from venue with bright pink residue on every frame? Appears black on screen?? Seemed to have an oily sheen but is imbedded in it like a burn? So strange.

My gf asked for a bedtime story the other night and I’m not as creative on the spot as she is, so I just told her Angela Lansbury’s life story instead and it worked! She enjoyed it and did fall asleep at the end.

Snow White is just bizarre, the dwarves are uncanny and the songs fall flat and Zegler’s acting is good but way too melodramatic for a film so unserious. It’s like Faye Dunaway in Mommie Dearest level of disconnect w the acting and the material. I did see it though! It’s a film! Lol

When I see someone unironically complaining about DEI woke mind virus stuff, I like to imagine how Strong Bad would respond to them as if it were an email, and it makes me feel better.
