I logged in today for the first time in months and I'm so glad I did. Looking forward to these!

working on sending out SIGDOC manuscript reviews and I just have to say I appreciate a community that offers such careful feedback to authors. Y'all are generous with your time and expertise. Thanks.
Today's pedagogy question: Do you have a favorite or at least exemplary academic book review? Feel free to tag yourself. I'm doing some genre teaching in the next couple of weeks.
Finished Citizen Sleeper 2. It's so good I'm having those "oh no I can never play it again for the first time" feels. Thanks @jumpovertheage.com you made something broken and lovely and I wasn't gonna cry until a very old friend showed up in an unexpected place. It's perfect.
Playing Citizen Sleeper 2 (which feels like near-futire given our....everything. ) And my question somewhere in Act 2 is where are all these people sleeping on my ship? It's just a little thing.
I'm 7 hours in. Holding my own. Trying to make good choices. It's so good. Thank you.
The other thing I'm super excited about today.
Super excited for the @candwcon.bsky.social proceedings to be out!! Check out my article with @daniellekoepke13.bsky.social
titled, « Seeking Connectivity: Grappling with Data Privacy in Digital Social Settings »

I'll overlook your typos too if you're composing your abstract on your phone. The buttons are tiny and my brain moves too fast.
Making a rate appearance on social media to remind y'all to get those SIGDOC proposals in. Deadline is Tomorrow Feb. 1. Looking forward to your amazing work.
@sigdoc-acm.bsky.social is now on Bluesky! Give them a follow💙

I have been at A Spectrum office for an hour to resolve a small change of service request. In an hour of being open they have not completed a transaction with a single customer. There are three people working. Monopolies are bad. (News at 11.)
It's thanksgiving so that means today is for a frankly irresponsible amount of butter. I hope there are loved ones in your life today. Hug the ones you're with.
I know it's Holiday Time, but is anyone else proposing to Computers and Writing 2025? A colleague / friend and I plan to propose our own presentation, but the reviewers are favoring full panels. Anyone talking about podcasting / oral histories, cultural communities and technological use, etc.? 🙇🏻♂️
I definitely say this as a statement way more than I ever do even a rhetorical question. And also while this thread is laughably infuriating it did make me laugh. Cartoon job done.
I know any attempt to get people to look at something off-site is dicey and I know 2 hours is a lot of time. But no matter how many people end up listening to the first @losingourmindspod.bsky.social episode I’m so happy to release it—finally!—and really appreciate anyone who gives it a listen! 💕✨
Every single one of these things is pitched as giving workers more time and freedom to be creative, when literally not a single employer in America cares about workers having time and freedom. Workers who have time and freedom are workers who can and will be fired.
Hey y'all. Please check out this CFP. We want to talk about research in practice. How you make decisions, pivot, or rethink while you're in it. tek-ritr.com/research/res... reach out if you have questions. I'm jazzed about this project.
I use CeraVe Foaming Facial cleanser. It's mild and works well for my low maintenance skin.
I have ten today so I feel you. (Nine of them are student one on ones so not so bad as it sounds.)
What this game is doing is fucking fascinating in terms of live service/community mechanics.
Also I want to watch the community formation in action. For example Destiny 2 has a decade of community network in place and when weird things happens intended or not in the game the community mobilizes in hours globally. That community for HD2 is forming in realtime now.
I have a busy research calendar, but I wanna drop everything and document the formation community around Helldivers 2. Yes. I'm that kind of geek. How do you get millions of players to do global strategy in a new game with a dev team that is changing the board state based on player behavior?
We are seeking proposals for in-process writing and research projects and faculty mentors for roundtable discussions at the 22nd annual GRN, held in conjunction with the Computers and Writing Conference.

Thank you to every conference presenter who uses the microphone. No your voice is not loud enough on its own in this big room with terrible acoustics.
Hello. Hi audible I don't need a record of how many minutes I have listened to audio books so that I am not alone with my own thoughts all the time. Thks k bye.
It took my university an entire calendar month to approve a reimbursement. Not send me the money, just approve the reimbursement. Not everyone can just float $1500+ for a month for conference travel.
Okay. I have 5000 words I have to cut from to add a bib. I'm five days past my deadline. Writing is hard y'all. This thing goes out the door before the end of the day.
