This is horrific, I use these tools basically every week for projects ranging from investigating Alzheimer's to pediatric congenital rare disease. The loss from cutting scientific research funding is breathtaking in its atrocity.

I’m not sure if everyone outside academia is aware that a delay or “pause” in grant funding often means the researchers themselves are lost from the field, along with their expertise.
Study sections are the review panels that allocate NIH research grants. They bring in experts from around the country and have to be scheduled many months in advance; they provide the funds that keep the nation's biomedical research going.
It's hard to overstate the disruption this causes.
