It's Farkas, look at his track record from his last time on council. You surely can't be surprised that he's a nimby at heart.

La Nakba du Liban-Sud
Lebanese francophone outlet L’Orient Le-Jour: the Nakba of South Lebanon.
We Lebanese are calling it for what it is: a continuation of the 1948 Nakba.
The photo shows a Lebanese village with an Israeli flag on it, planted by the genocidal army.
Pale gray World Health Network graphic with the whn.global logo at the top. Large pink and black text reads: “COVID-19 never ‘ended’.” In the center is a simple white mask icon with pink ear loops. Below, large black text reads: “You should still be wearing a mask.” At the bottom it says: “World Health Network” and “Science for a safer, healthier world.”
COVID-19 is still spreading. Respirator masks are still one of the simplest ways to reduce risk, for you and the people around you.

Exactly this. Apple sucks in so many respects but they do have standards when it comes to their products that LLMs just don't meet.
Patriotic would be a stretch, but the separatist project fills me with dismay. I'm also busy enough, but still, drop me a line.

Two students and a professor are suing the University of Alberta for violently dismantling the peaceful pro-Palestine encampment in May 2024.
Back when it happened, a number of law professors—including myself—signed an open letter objecting to police brutalizing our students over protected speech.
My latest:
Alberta govt legislates two-tier health care, again
Private-pay testing will increase public wait times, making the diagnostic testing bottleneck worse, and continue to unravel the foundational principles of the Canada Health Act

Tyrael, is that you?
This isn't about children and social media. Meta and Zuckerberg have been lobbying for this policy because it forces all users to associate ID with their accounts to prove their age.
The Liberals are just gullibly going along with the moral panic about kids on apps.
More than 4,000 additional wells are being transferred to the Orphan Well Association — nearly doubling the total the association has to safely seal and clean up.
It's "the largest single transfer in history."
Here's what it all means. thenarwhal.ca/alberta-orph...
The vote on citywide rezoning has ended.
Below is an excerpt of my debate before the vote, where I spoke about what we heard, who we didn't hear, and why we must focus on the future.
Growth isn’t optional — it’s already happening. Time to move forward together.

1/ Hours after Iran and the U.S. reached a ceasefire deal, Israel launched one of its most devastating attacks on Lebanon to date.
Over a hundred strikes in ten minutes - carnage in Beirut, where hundreds of thousands of displaced people are sheltering.

81 year old Korean Do Keum-Yeun stating "I hate all American presidents" at a 2017 protest
Celebrity investor Kevin O'Leary's proposed Wonder Valley data centre won't require an Alberta enviro impact assessment (despite its massive power and water consumption), according to a letter obtained by @nationalobserver.com's Marc Fawcett-Atkinson.

Amery essentially says the UCP has not ruled out ramming through the minority riding boundary recommendation. It would eliminate any chance of the NDP forming government. It's the most anti-democratic threat since Aberhart. And the NDP are like, "Albertans deserve fair maps!"
The Israeli strategy: degrade the capabilities of its enemies. It doesn't matter if there's regime change, it doesn't matter if a ceasefire is signed or not, if Iran loses the ability to do anything. Anyone who could usefully contribute to governance is a target.
Yet again, the Alberta Energy Regulator puts oil and gas companies (and their bottom line) before the interests of ordinary Albertans and the land we depend on. #ABLeg #ABPoli #CDNPoli
They were chasing that GoT vibe like lemmings, with none of the art or impact.
This is, on its face, a ban on Pride flags in and outside of public schools in Alberta (unless they for some reason fall under the "exceptions" to be announced later, which I doubt).
But there are two other big red flags here I want to draw attention to ...

Today, MSF is going public with something we've been fighting behind closed doors for months: Gilead will not sell us their new HIV drug, lenacapavir.
The sticking point isn't even price, they just refuse to sell.

Overwhelmingly, the code that the bots are trained on is open source. It's still a legal problem in that it violates the license under which that code was released, but it doesn't have the same moral issues that come with text and image generation trained on copyrighted work.
I hate generative AI's impacts on society as a whole, but for code it is now inescapable. Interviews evaluate code generation abilities, interviewees ask what their token budget will be when trying to get hired.
Avi Lewis: "We have shoved Canada Post so far into the market mindset that every few months we have a national conversation about why isn't Canada Post making money. Does the ambulance service make money? Do the police services make money? We're talking about a fundamental public service."
If the AB NDP is determined to blame is problems on the distant federal party, instead of learning a lesson or two from its failure to connect with voters, then the party is doomed and the UCP will rule forever.
Illuminating thread here. Read to the end 👇
A photo of Ali and Fatima in their press vests and hats, smiling at the camera with Lebanon in the background
Two of the journalists assassinated in South Lebanon this morning by Israel were Lebanese correspondents Ali Shoeib and Fatima Ftouni.
They become the 252nd and 253rd journalists killed by Israel in the last two years.
Unprecedented.
