those were definitely influential for me too... i read enders game when i was nine, probably not the best idea lol
some of mine were:
* the last unicorn
* animorphs
* mistborn
* amulet books 1-7
curious what people's formative books were growing up (i.e. books that significantly shaped you as a person)
my dilemma: i made a cool amv but am hesitant to share it online because it uses an unreleased song only available via a bandcamp fan club

i mean…
A screenshot of my Bluesky drafts, in order: * now: you know your rents about to go up when the cafe makes you bus your own table * 16h: saying dan brown books are airport novels is an insult to both airports and novels * 16h: of course dan brown would live in new hampshire 🙄 * 16h: raise your hand if you think dan brown should write shorter chapters * 16h: imagine having a baby and you name him dan brown (“dan brown” is partially cropped at the bottom of this screenshot)
ordered a hot drink with my extra-spicy noodles, when will i learn my lesson
i can’t believe i have to wait more than two weeks for the full tomodachi life game to come out 😫 the demo ended too soon!!
and on a much smaller scale--if you don't write that story idea you have, it's very likely that specific idea will never exist as a story in any form. that's what motivates me to keep writing
as a child, i didn't really appreciate historical artifacts or landmarks, because the wider world around me seemed boundless and unrestricted, with something grander always on the horizon. knowing how limited and finite things really are makes them much more precious to me now
part of becoming an adult, for me at least, is coming to terms with just how finite everything truly is, and the narrow set of circumstances that lead to... well, just about anything happening
i also saw it relatively recently and had mixed feelings about it. that being said, the second half of the film is where it really becomes itself, imo. the first half is all setup. so i would recommend finishing it!
reading a book about a bad person will in fact turn you into one. authors are lying to you about this because they’re all bad people themselves
unless your special interest is wheat
i’ll have to try that!
A photo of a seemingly endless prairie in Northern Central Montana. It’s brown, flat farm fields as far as the eye can see
confirmed: central montana is the most boring landscape on planet earth
i wish i understood the trend of flavoring matcha lattes. to me the matcha taste/texture is so distinct it overwhelms anything you add to it.
baking fancy desserts sounds like a rabbit hole fr
what did you think?
I’m not saying that’s unrealistic, just that it’s a major tonal shift
I should probably read it firsthand before passing judgement on it lol. I was just surprised hearing some of what happens later in the story
Content warning from an Anime Feminist about the Kare Kano manga. Text: CONTENT WARNING for discussions of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, as well as romanticized pedophilia. SPOILERS for the entire Kare Kano manga series.
i’ve only read the first 10ish chapters of the manga, so I’m not exactly sure what happens, but the fact that this content warning appears above every review of it is all i need to know tbh
one saving grace of the kare kano anime is that by getting cancelled early it didn’t adapt the last 75% of the manga which gets wayyyy darker apparently
i'm vegetarian but still, you don't mess with the amtrak cascades clam chowder
they aren't serving clam chowder on my train today, what an absolute scandal
