I'm in a Discord that's complaining about the Baby Yoda movie right now and I want to tell them to live off the rain and the dirt so bad.

Today I learned that Ghidorah's name is actually the Russian pronunciation of "hydra". The more you know!

The credits of the 2019 Godzilla: King of the Monsters, where giant monsters suddenly and completely restore the Earth's ecosystem and end climate change, is a classic example of Tolkein's idea of eucatastrope.

My son, who I have shared Welcome to Night Vale and Gravity Falls with, is having a real "THIS IS WHERE THAT STUFF CAME FROM?!" moment with this text.

My oldest son is reading The Call of Cthulhu because he wants to have the backstory straight for Minions & Monsters, which is a bit like reading all of Moby Dick first so you can get the references in Bone.

The year was 1983 and everybody was telling tales of bosomy young redheaded warrior-princesses and their shoulder-perching fuzzbuddies in sacrificial quests to save their postapocaliptic futurepast fantasy worlds

Power Girl is the coolest. She’s the Superman that loves punching things. This art captures that truth vividly.

So the radio dramas? Canonize them. Who will stop you. Their concordances draw out surprising depth; and their disagreements may be editorialized at your pleasure: ignore, rationalize, or even just hold in another hand simultaneously, as you already do with life's other small contradictions.

I'm fond of pointing out that Thrawn is more canonical in Disney Star Wars than he was in the EU. So is Cindel Towani, Life Day, Jaxxon, and more. Nothing is non-canonical in Star Wars, just set down for a while before being picked up again. Ideas have their own samsara, if you wait long enough.

The truth is, nobody can tell you how to collect and arrange your thoughts, or which stories should bear weight in your understanding. A notion of internal canon is useful for the producers of a shared work, but even then, its not like there's solid rules to their make-believe, either.

Saw an earnest little post of someone asking if the NPR Star Wars radio dramas were canon. It's not my place to give my opinion there; they want to find out the fact, and the fact is no, they aren't. But my opinion?

Yes, Virginia, the Star Wars radio dramas are canon.

JRR Tolkein never even considered that by wearing weighted training clothing, the hobbits power levels could be obscured from the ringwraiths' scouters.

Boise took its Pride flag down. But new art has popped up at City Hall. What it cost “The flag is not our only form of expression,” a Council Member previously said.

The famous Andor line is that "tyranny requires constant effort. It breaks, it leaks. Authority is brittle." Here is a perfect example of that through malicious compliance: Idaho forced the city of Boise to remove its Pride flags. So the city painted rainbows everywhere else.
