Kjerstad put up a 116 wRC+ as a rookie. I'm not too concerned about a massive drop in offensive production. 35 HR is great, but a .300 OBP is not

In reality, there are always trade-offs. And I think I'd rather put that 90M into a big offer for Snell or Fried, or into multiple high leverage RP. And roll with Silent J, who is likely to put up similar production

If that money doesn't limit the org under new management, I'm fine with that kind of deal.

But you have to set realistic expectations for what you're getting: 1-2 WAR per season. And don't let him block future franchise cornerstones if he's not crushing.

The unfortunate truth is that he just had the best season of his career by a wide margin, and only put up a 129 wRC+ and 3.3 WAR.

For reference, Chris Davis put up 7.0 and 5.4 WAR seasons before his big contract was signed. 😬
