I am not (yet) s certified veterinary anaesthesiologist but with our first on vacation (and sick) and our second being sick, I am the next in line to be responsible and I am getting solidly good at it, if I do say so myself.
I will do the certification course in a year or two.
gonna be a tough day at work. week. tough life. it is how it is.
Starting december the team gets a lot of gifts from owners. It is nice. We have a large box full of sweets we got gifted in out main treatmenr room for show.
A meerkat! My colleagues son has a small park and he got him from a zoo!
"Here you see your cats teeth on the x-ray."
"Oh, is this pre or post OP?"
"The teeth are still in there so it is pre OP..."
"...oh."
We also had a hamster yesterday. She ripped her leg off. The clinic wanted a full set of xrays and god knows what kinda case report so we did something we usually dont, hamster surgery. Owner agreed to the risks.
The hamster went home fine. But very angry.
Got my hands on this exotic patient yesterday. P4 tooth abcess. Was ugly. Angry but cute little fella.
Today a dog, heavier than me, fear peed on two colleagues and myself why we were doing an ultrasound. He peed on the table, the towels, the floor, the ultrasound machine... we were less that ecstatic.
Working 6 days a week for 3 weeks in a row is... a draining endeavor.
Se was in severe pain and we decided to let her go. Shw past at 9 this morning. Save crossing, love.
My second oldest piggie will die today. She was fine 7h ago before bedtime, now she cant eat and swallow. She is 6+, maybe 7.
I am making a point of friendling up with every representative who comes in to inform us about theor new products. Like Zoetis, Laboklin, IDEXX, Antech and such. Most of them are very friendly women, I like them.
good girl
We... relented. We will do x-rays on this sheep today to see if the bone is broken and if it is see who can do the surgery.
Pretty excited about it actually! Pics will follow!
We are a small animal practice but the founder 60 years ago also did large animals.
There are very littke large animal vets in the area.
Yesterday someone called because of there sheep. Little girl is a 20kg kamerun with a broken leg and needs x-rays (and possibly surgery)
sarcoptes.
The pressure of veterinarian medicine: 'It's just this sense⦠of failure and doom and sadness and disappointment.' www.kbia.org/podcast/miss...
my cat is positively obsessed with me
parasites.
My youngest guineapig lost all her hair on her belly and got some inflammated spots. I put her on a towel and gave her metacam but I wonder where this suddenly came from.
I hope it is not some underlying hormonal issue...
The suspect:
Friend found a kitten on the road.
He caught it, got bitten.
I helped, got bitten (despite gloves).
A trip to my work to get her treated and a hospital trip due to the bites later this turned into a group project and the whole gangs gonna get dinner now lol
Door scratching has begun. Doorknob jumping too. I am THIS CLOSE to putting her in the dog kennel or cat carrier. She is being EXTREMELY loud past resting hours.
I removed the cat tree and one cat still tries her very hardest to jump as high as possible. Since she is unstoppable, running around and all, she has now been locked out in the hallway where not a single piece of furniture is higher than my shins.
Please stop man.
I ended up spaying them myself after all. All went well and they are both awake and ready to go home!
She is one of my favourite rescues btw! A roughly 6 year old lady who I got from a rescue. She is incredibly cheerful and hand tame. She hates her arthritis meds but fortunately not me! She is super happy and I dearly love her :)
I forgot that thyroid issues can also eventually lead to other issues, like a change in their daytime rhythm and screaming for no reason. Cats often meow a lot at night and my piggy squeaks A LOT so there is that symptom too!
This little missy is the T4 victim btw. Her name is Milchschnitte but I call her Schnittchen!
I'd say 7 is pretty ancient and everything near 8 has already ascended to godhood.
