According to Tasnim, Iran has launched drone strikes on US naval vessels following the US attack and seizure of an Iranian cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz.

In all seriousness, Swalwell and Gonzales resigning does signal shame does actually work. For the longest time, Washington has been immune to shame and even the most disgraced scandal-ridden politicians don't leave unless they are made to. Shame does work

Buttigieg is interesting. He is able to charm white liberals with degrees with NPR tote bags who brunch and their moms who go to #NoKings rallies. It makes him telegenic on cable news, which is filled with yuppies. But after seven years as a public-facing Democrat, Black voters still don't trust him
Oil execs spent a lot of money to re-empower the president who in his first term escalated with Iran, undermined U.S. alliances, badly botched the one real crisis he faced. and had a long record of failing in business then screwing over partners.
They got what they wanted, why are they complaining?
We have never looked more feckless and ridiculous to the entire world.

Last night's special elections in Georgia and Wisconsin showed the exact same trends we've seen in every election night:
-Massive overperformance in suburbs
-Hispanics trending left
-Low Republican turnout

Others have posted this, but here's the evidence that Pakistan's Prime Minister's purported request that Trump delay was drafted for him by an English speaker.
What she said: Ideally, when Congress is in recess, local reporters go bug lawmakers at ice cream socials, little league games, graduations and town halls. But... local news is hollowed out now.
It’s probably nothing. 🤡

Six Supreme Court justices, the Roberts court majority, were very concerned about the risks of Donald Trump personally, and a future president hypothetically, not being able to commit crimes without consequence. It was a top priority for them, and they used their power to ensure it wouldn’t happen.
The United States is about to commit war crimes because some dudes got mad at a trans woman in a beer advertisement on Instagram.
"History will judge-" let me stop you right fucking there, history doesn't do fucking shit, I'm a historian, let's be clear here: elected officials need to do their fucking jobs, right now, before it happens, or future historians will judge THEM. Everyone knows and knew who Trump was.
I went to college in the South. The failure of Reconstruction and accountability for the Confederacy meant monuments to the confederacy on my college campus and streets named after Jefferson Davis.
At least we made Kamala Harris feel bad by giving Bibi Netanyahu the American president he wanted. That's what really matters.
The Senate envisions itself as a body that should be a check on the president's most imperial impulses. And yet, it does absolutely nothing as the president threatens war crimes and says a civilization will die. So what's the point of the Senate?
Millions of American voters wanted to be villains. They came to believe it’s the key to success, while goodness is weak, woke, loser stuff, done only to signal.
Offered the option of unvarnished villainy, they enthusiastically took it. Seeing others suffer more made them feel big.
And here we are.
(Reuters) - Iran showed no sign of agreeing to U.S. President Donald Trump's ultimatum to open the Strait of Hormuz by the end of Tuesday or face bombing of civilian infrastructure in what would be the biggest escalation yet of the war.

Secret Election Funders (via NYT) U.S. politics has seen a stunning increase in dark money donations, undermining promises from the Supreme Court.
i’m so old i remember when obama called out SCOTUS for citizens united during a SOTU, predicting this would happen, and alito shook his head and said “that’s not true”
They best way to understand Trump is his brain is stuck somewhere in 1997-1998. Even his rhetoric around China is basically what he used to say about Japan. He talks about crime in cities as if it were still Gotham in the 1990s before New York cleaned up.
An April 5, 2026 8:03 AM post from Donald Trump saying “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP
Trump says to Iran “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one.” He says “Open the Fuckin’ Strait, you crazy bastards, or you’ll be living in Hell.” He adds “Praise be to Allah.”
Firing Cabinet members and generals won’t make the Iran war go well.
The reasons it’s going badly are structural and geographic. Not hard to see in advance, and widely warned about.
But those warnings came from experts, and were dismissed by leaders who insist reality isn’t real if they say so.
The most dangerous Trump corruption of US institutions is the military, and fixing the cultural rot—seen most recently in blocking promotions for Black and female officers and firing white male generals who disagreed, though there’s a lot beyond that too—will be a major challenge of reconstruction.
