Good points. I live in the US and I’m of European descent so I was more referring to the colonization of the Americas by European colonial powers. American indigenous relations to land are very different to European ones, and Europeans forced theirs onto the americas thru guns murder and disease.

To steal something someone has to own it and then u have to non-consensually acquire it. But land ownership is a western capitalist construct. So maybe it would be more precise to say that our ancestors murdered the previous people who lived here so we could live here
