Here’s the facts: The Harrell administration cancelled speed cushions, an extremely cheap, basic, and effective traffic calming measure used all over the city, because some drivers complained it made their commute a bit less comfortable. That’s the only discernible reason in Park’s announcement.

On a public road along a public park. A PARK.
Again & again, the slightest discomfort & inconvenience to drivers is prioritized over basic safety for people walking & rolling. Requiring drivers to slow a tiny bit — what speed cushions (they aren't even bumps! they are gentle to drive over) do — is too radical for our Democratic mayor.
@hbomax With the return of the iconic HBO name the updated logo positions the HBO brand prominently, ensuring it is the primary visual read with emphasis on the iconic core, which is embedded in the counter of the "O." This deliberate hierarchy reinforces that the platform's core value proposition remains anchored in HBO's legacy and reputation for excellence. The "Max" portion of the logo complements this hierarchy in various technical ways. The "Max" mark has been carefully adjusted to a lighter stroke weight compared to its previous iteration. Moreover, the characteristic of the counter "core," previously embedded within the letter "a" of "Max," has been intentionally omitted. This nuanced adjustment respects the visual ownership of the core form as a distinct hallmark of the HBO logo, maintaining clarity and brand integrity. The "m"'s stems and shoulders were slightly modified while maintaining the balance of the aperture of the letterform. The "a" was completely hand-drawn, with the counter space slightly adjusted toward the stem to give the bowl form and character. The "x"'s diagonal strokes, slightly bowed and tapered to the center axis, creates a flared nuance. Additionally, the width of "Max" has been subtly reduced relative to "HBO," with the overhang of the “O" letterform visually balancing and aligning with the "x," a calculated choice. Overall, the kerning was meticulously calibrated to balance the open spaces between and within the letterforms to ensure a quick read. To further distinguish the brand within the streaming market, the logo identity features a carefully crafted iridescent treatment; subtle warm and cool tones add depth and perpetual motion. This distinctive visual effect metaphorically embodies the platform's extensive range of content - constantly evolving, vibrant, and multidimensional. This creative approach ensures the brand remains visually distinctive, resonating strongly within the competitive landscape of streaming services.
*nodding politely and pretending to listen while I discreetly signal the waiter to hurry up with the check* yeah no totally
the new revised retro new improved HBO Max logo, consisting of the block uppercase letters HBO (with a circle filling the center of the O) above the lowercase letters max, all in white on black. Annoyingly, the B touches the O in two places and the m has asymmetrical arches and the arms of the x are curved, but the a is normal sans serif font
a paradigm shift so culturally important calls for showing the logo itself
SDOT needs to create a car-free perimeter around every school. Why do we wait until a child is killed?
Rating characters from Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope on how well they are at accessibility by a person that has only watched one and a half Star Wars films. My character knowledge comes from memes and vibes. Please don't tell me any lore. Rating system is 1-10.
I love him
Adding stock-image children to a bike lane design should be a necessary planning step.
Excerpt from Seattle Times story about the challenges of (car) commutes amid back-to-office mandates: "Most workers acknowledge that working in-person has its advantages. But the benefits can often be overshadowed by the compounding expenses."
Also, this story contains a bit of mindless back-to-office propaganda claiming "most workers" see the benefits of being in an office without citing any data or source.
Car Brain is a virus: There are other ways to commute, and it would be interesting to explore how riding the bus (amid cuts to service) has become more challenging and time-consuming for many people, for instance—but this story defines "commute" as "drive alone." tinyurl.com/ff3zx6j6
I didn't know about those first three. Fascinating, especially "terrace," which has always seemed so random. Makes sense now.
