Why the heck are paying for BART police if they won’t prevent people from living in RVs under the track? This weekend’s meltdown was a massive failure on BART’s part
BART director Mark Foley told the Pittsburg city council that BART isn’t actually planning to close any stations if BART doesn’t get its bailout. It’s all a tactic to blackmail voters
BART blackmailing the Bay Area with a demand for a tax increase without any promise of reform is an insult to voters who should vigorously oppose the tax.
We know better now
Opposition to a proposal to build 422 townhomes in Shadelands is being driven by residents of the Viamonte senior living development, which was itself controversially approved in 2014. walnutcreek.granicus.com/GeneratedAge...
If BART shuts down, what happens to the VTA owned segment? It’s gonna be weird seeing billions of dollars dumped into an extension of a closed subway
It would be a very fun natural experiment to see how transitless TOD does
So, if BART carries through on their threats and shuts down instead of controlling their costs, how does this affect the SB79 upzoning?
That property is on the right side of the traffic, so it wouldn’t be hurt, except for the apartment building the guy also wants to build next to the north concord BART station parking lot. Honestly if they shut down eBART like they’re threatening the economics of the North Concord station look good.
That’s probably the best use for the coast guard property. It will happen if interest rates fall
The city wanted to give the land to a housing “nonprofit”
They did, Brookfield residential, who is proceeding very slowly with paperwork. The part owned by the coast guard was auctioned off and half the old base housing will be rented out and half will be redeveloped into townhouses, much to the city’s chagrin
I mean they’re cutting 2 lines but I get what you’re saying.
I’m around haven’t had much to say
They’re sure talking about shutting down a lot of BART if they don’t get another bailout. Basically going back to the 90s but with worse service
Are they not starting with the apartments?
After all… having a large grocery store is essential to pretending you’ve met your RHNA allocation
Should be and is are different things
Round One in Concord has Karaoke rooms that you can rent for a reasonable price.
Making a well performing ebike means making one that can go pretty fast so the speed limit is certain to be implemented in software. Software speed limitations will always be routinely removed, especially on such simple devices.
I think it’s hilarious that SB79 doesn’t affect Contra Costa County because it only has 15 (or 14, depending on if you double count Richmond) rail stations and it needs more than 15 to qualify,
A lot of you really need to sit down and think about how easily you believed a huge, obvious pack of lies about this, in the face of clear evidence to the contrary, just because you heard it repeated a lot and found it ideologically validating. Barely distinguishable from MAGA conspiracy nonsense.
Going for the bougie quad cab tho?
Eh. There are still more mechanical engineering jobs up here and they pay a lot better. I’m glad LA is doing better though.
The new CEO of CAHSRA (correctly) believes that to break even California HSR needs to at least sort of connect with a major population center and is making a push to extend to Gilroy by 2038 so the service can make a profit when it starts.

It’s an interesting choice, building space in the highest vacancy market in the Bay Area where rents are still falling. Maybe in 10 years if things recover it will be insightful
Suicide. People prefer jumping in front of trains to jumping in front of buses.
How is the federal government pulling $24m from the Caltrain downtown extension affect the project? Any chance of a rethink?
I took a family trip to Paso Robles on Amtrak's Coast Starlight route in May.
On the way home, I tracked its running speed via Strava, which you can see visualized here.
There are some fast parts between Gilroy and SJ, but you lose a *lot* of time in the deep East Bay.
