Local gov care case management - a perfect storm of cost, coordination and vendor lock-in - FF Studio Social care is the beating heart of how adults and children across the UK receive essential health and well-being support every day. But without

Hi everyone, I wrote about the state of case management software in social care and local authorities.

In short; it is a hard nut to crack and one that can be cracked with commitment, coordination and central goverment involvement.

Reform of the state has to deliver for people Speech on reforming the public sector delivered by the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Pat McFadden at University College London, Stratford.

Fuck yes someone at the very heart of government saying this so thoughtfully and clear throated. What’s this funny tingling feeling… is it hope and pride? More of that. 💪

Surround yourself with colleagues who will tell you mid-meeting, "Don't do that; it makes you look like a tw*t". **chefkiss**

Gisela Stuart speaks pretty clearly about making the flow in and out of the cs much better, so hopefully even if Cab Sec is a miss there can be a more healthy inflow and outflow of skills and mentality www.youtube.com/live/Zm2cvD3...

Yeah, just read that and enjoyed it. All eyes on who gets Cabinet Secretary and how much reforming energy they have.

What is clear is how closely MPs have studied this legislation. There is genuine collaboration on possible amendments, engagement with the smallest detail and deep consultation with constituents.

If only it could always be like this!

Massive shout out to @jukes.ie and @debblanch44.bsky.social for running Product for the People yesterday. It felt very real-talk, open and honest. There was a good spread of "generations" in the room too. Its lovely to have a space that engenders collective sprit and has a bit of hope. A+

The case study of how public transport suddenly worked brilliantly during Glasgow COP is a fantastic example of this.

BBC One - BBC Wales Investigates, What's Killing Our Rivers? Wyre Davies investigates the dangers of pollutants to the rivers of Wales.

The whistleblower in this is heartbreaking. I’d bet on 100s similar without the courage to go public in every department. I’m not convinced finance is the main problem, a deficit of political capital and courage is.

To paraphrase - someone very skilled and technical recently told me about [department] -´no one with technical skills wants to work there because they won’t be listened to or really get to change anything’ and that they avoid applying for a policy jobs as ‘they want preppy KPMG types’

Keep activist Ministers in post for extended periods of time, more political appointments, reform the civil service (focus on DGs, skillsets, pay and incentive structures) and offer £££ of core funding grants to thirds sector adjacent organisations with skilled technicians who create public value.

@soniaturcotte.bsky.social has written a delicious blog post about how we landed equity, climate and witty report titles in the Sport England Pilot Fund work we did. 👌

Lore Oxford – Ask me Anything: Social Learning in an... “Through others we become ourselves, we learn, we grow and acquire knowledge”.As society becomes increasingly digital, people become more socially awkward....

I think there is similar evidence around why people use Reddit and pseudonyms (videos.theconference.se/lore-oxford-...)

(For chatbots I'd want to see the technical proofs around anonymity and data minimisation, naturally :) )
