Turn the Lights Back On Witnessing the cruel effects of the U.S. oil blockade against Cuba.

I don’t know what to say anymore. Tearful this morning after reading what the U.S. has done to the sick and ill in Cuba: “Late last night, a report came in that patients on ventilators at the Hermanos Ameijeiras Hospital have died.” Trump is running an imperialist necropolitical regime.

Sam Alito Is Just Asking Questions About Mail-In Voting In Illinois, Democrats passed a law making it easier for people to cast absentee ballots. Alito was ready to give the Republican challenging the law some free advice.

One of the real problems with establishment Supreme Court journalism is that there has not been a meaningful accounting for the fact that Sam Alito now has the politics of your average InfoWars listener

Federal employees are not ok A new survey shows collapsing federal employee morale

New, from me: The federal government is required to track job satisfaction among its employees.
The Trump admin stopped collecting the data, so a nonprofit stepped in.
The results show that a collapse in morale and zero trust in Trump agency leaders. 🧵

This is what desperation looks like.

President Trump wants Republicans to BLOCK funding for TSA until Congress passes his voter suppression bill.

He is terrified that the American people have turned against his failed agenda.

Trump Has Detained the Parents of More Than 11,000 U.S. Citizen Kids A ProPublica analysis of new ICE data shows that Trump has detained parents of U.S. citizen children at about twice the rate that Biden did, and moms have been deported four times as often.

NEW: For the first time, ProPublica has been able to quantify how many U.S. citizen children have been directly affected by Trump’s immigration crackdown: more than 11,000 kids had a parent detained — and that’s an undercount. 1/ 🧵

Much better analysis than "Oh Trump usually gets away with these things."

In fact, Greg is absolutely correct: Trump is constantly damaging himself, and it all adds up even if it's not immediately evident.

De Niro: It doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent—no one, no one voted for new wars. No one voted for higher prices at the pump. No one voted for higher prices in grocery stores, and no one voted for government-masked thugs shooting down our citizens in the streets.

Screenshot of a post from Mark Gadala-Maria @markgadala that reads:

This is wild.
143 million people thought they were catching Pokémon. They were actually building one of the largest real-world visual datasets in Al history.
Niantic just disclosed that photos and AR scans collected through Pokémon Go have produced a dataset of over 30 billion real-world images. The company is now using that data to power visual navigation Al for delivery robots.
Players didn't just walk around with their phones.
They scanned landmarks, storefronts, parks, and sidewalks from every angle, at every time of day, in lighting and weather conditions that staged photography would never capture. They documented the physical world at a scale no mapping company with a fleet of vehicles could have replicated on the same timeline or budget.
The most valuable Al training datasets in the world aren't being assembled in data centers. They're being built by people who have no idea they're building them.

Folks, you do NOT have to give credit to the "Jews are the problem" dude who resigned today. He resigned because he sees conspiracies everywhere and he blames Jews for everything.

This is someone that Trump put in charge of the NCTC.

Graham Platner was older than I am right now when he posted these horrific comments. I cannot fathom making these comments online as a fully grown adult.

And I’ve got some tough news: the gymnastics that “progressives” are using to invalidate or ignore this are no better than the other side.

They’re telling me a great empire will be destroyed if I attack Persia. Even the oracles who don’t like me very much, very nasty, they all said to me, “Sir, it’s one of the great empires, and it’ll be destroyed. And all because you attacked Persia.” That’s what they’re telling me.

I work with human trafficking survivors. Rich men like Bill Gates can do more to make amends for their Epstein ties | Bridgette Carr Apologies won’t help the survivors still living with the echoes of abuse. But wealthy people have the resources to make a real impact

www.theguardian.com/commentisfre... “It was power and wealth that allowed Epstein’s exploitation to continue for as long as it did. Power made it possible for Epstein to recruit victims with promises of opportunity and connections. Wealth …the sheer intimidating force of his resources.”

Officials are normally presented with ceremonial swords or paintings or whatever. But these guys are so fucking stupid that foreign intelligence agencies can literally give them an "Honorary Electronic Communications Device for a Very Special Boi" and they fall for it every time.

For the you can’t make this up file. TSA, FEMA and DHS are currently shut down because the GOP refuses to separate ICE from the package and/or provide reasonable conditions on ICE (no masks, judicial warrants, etc.). And so next week they are using up limited floor time for (wait for it)…

Why Has This Columbia University Protester Been in ICE Detention for Nearly a Year? Leqaa Kordia's family worries about her health after she was briefly hospitalized last week. DHS refused to give them information about her condition and she is still 'very sick.'

BREAKING: Exactly one year since she was detained, an immigration judge has just ordered the release of Leqaa Kordia — the last Columbia protestor still in ICE detention.

DHS has kept her, despite a magistrate judge recommending her release and an immigration judge already *twice* ordering so.
