We found that social proof and credibility are key to smokers choosing cessation apps. Apps with 4.8-star ratings and trusted sources are more likely to be picked. Listening to user feedback and building trust boosts evidence-based app adoption and supports quitters.

Denver gave people experiencing homelessness $1k/month. A year later, nearly half had housing.
They also had fewer ER visits, nights spent in a hospital, and jail stays.
The report estimates that this reduction in public service use SAVED the city $589k.

"Evidence-based policy does work, but you have to own it, explain it and stay the course. It costs political capital, and politicians need to be brave. In a world where facts and evidence matter less and less, it is all the more vital that we stand by that evidence to take our nation forward."
A study from third round of our efficiency research programme found lower turnover rates for nurses and senior doctors at hospital level were associated with better health outcomes for patients with emergency hospital admissions.

Also, ADHD is often associated with delayed sleep phase syndrome (difficulty falling asleep and waking up at conventional times).
People with #ADHD often struggle to "shut off" their brains at night due to racing thoughts, restlessness, or hyperactivity. ADHD meds help regulate the brain's dopamine and norepinephrine levels, which can reduce excessive mental activity, hence making it easier to relax and fall asleep.
I have struggled with sleep issues for more than 3 decades. A late diagnosis of #ADHD + meds finally showed me what it feels to have a 'normal' circadian rhythm.
Without meds, some ADHDers experience "rebound hyperactivity" in the evening as their brain struggles with neurotransmitter regulation.
Today, MPs are voting on the Tobacco and Vapes Bill.
If passed, it will bring the UK closer to protecting future generations from the harms of smoking & vaping and save countless lives.
Let's make this happen!
Well done! Nice to have more evidence on comms.
Behavioural science can help frame messages in a way that addresses behaviour change, including beliefs about the consequences of not taking climate action. But we also know that communication alone has its limits, and other areas must be targeted to increase the likelihood of behaviour change. π
Thought provoking read, I'm glad you shared it! So, Robert, did Jonathan offer you money? π
I've started a starter pack on science ontologies such as the Behaviour Change Intervention Ontology (BCIO) and the Addiction Ontology (AddictO) and the Ontology for Modeling and Representation of Social Entities (OMRSE). Please let me know if you'd like to be added.
Me too, please, Robert. π

Would anyone consider putting together a #BehaviouralScience list - there are a good number of us on here now but we are scattered. It would be a great service if anyone had the skills, time and inclination to do it (Note, maps onto the COM-B model of behaviour
Can I suggest that all those in the #BehaviouralScience starter pack i created put #BehaviouralScience in the descriptions of themselves & relevant posts - that way we can find each other. The current feed with that name is quite restricted so not that useful (to me anyway). Thanks!

Calling all connections and Bluesky friends! Are you interested in pursuing a #PhD at #Princeton πΊπΈ, focusing on the use of #LLMs in #socialsciences?
I know the political climate isnβt ideal right now, but the opportunity is great!
Sounds like some interesting projects are going to happen there! I'm using behaviour science framework in LLMs. Would love to chat!
I love it here, but could we get an option to save posts? My inbox is drowning in useful papers and links! π @bsky.app
This sounds interesting! Would love to know more about your PhD work, if you're up for a virtual coffee?
So good to see you here!
