Stylized and textural drawing of common goldeneye ducks in blue and green rippled water, two black and white males and two brown headed females.
Common goldeneye ducks are here! Here's a drawing from a couple years ago when I was finally able to identify them on the water nearby.

Drawing of two Northern Flickers, one red-shafted and one yellow-shafted, perched on a twisting branch of chokecherry leaves and berries. Floating white flowers and starbursts are around them, as well as a ribbon that intertwines with them and the branch, and changes from red to yellow.

This is the Great Snettisham torc. It is made from just over 1 kg of gold mixed with silver & has 64 threads (each 1.9mm wide). Eight threads were twisted together at a time to make eight separate ropes of metal. These were then twisted around each to make the final torc.

great power competition theorizing about LLMs is some of the most warmed over trash i've ever encountered.
Just needed to mention that also born on this day, but in 1832, was Hermenegildo Bustos. Also painted some still-lifey things. Here with added scorpion and frog.
Marx wasn't right about everything but one sense in which I am an ardent, committed Marxist is the idea that material conditions matter. They matter a lot. So we should work *very* hard to understand them, not just decide our own experience is universal as Protagonists of Reality.
working on a new kind of soup that removes soup stains so if you spill soup on yourself you can just spill soup on yourself and it'll be like you never spilled soup on yourself at all, even though you did, you spilled soup on yourself twice. but i can't get it to work on crab bisque or chinos
There’s something nebulously gender about the fact that a lot of lefties seem to think that capitalism brutally forces you into meaningless office jobs when if you can get the requisite degree and fog up a mirror there’s no shortage of teaching or nursing jobs lol
