The Case for a Smaller Tech Toolbox To avoid technology overwhelm, a good rule of thumb: Think quality over quantity, and only keep what earns its place.

It can be easy to forget, especially as shiny new edtech tools seem to drop each day.

But instructional technology educator @mrsuteachestech.bsky.social shares a reminder: Adding *more* tech tools doesn’t promise better learning. 🧰

While a LMS isn’t the flashiest tool, it’s one of the most heavily utilized. Effective use is most impactful for students & parents. Starting the year w #Canvas vocab review #edtech #edtechcoach #backtoschool

1-Minute Read. Collaborative Learning. 16 Variations on Think-Pair-Share to Keep Students Engaged. By Todd Finley. Illustration of students participating in various think-pair-share activities.

Think-Pair-Share has been a classroom mainstay since the 1980s. It helps increase participation, reinforce key concepts, and aid in recall, professor of English education @toddfinley.bsky.social writes.

But even the strongest learning strategies can get boring if they’re overused.

It’s easy to become overwhelmed w all the options. But continue to encourage all the creative options that iPads provide. Mark up on photos or screenshots, Pages, Keynote are all great tools. The Everyone Can Create r great resources from Apple too.

I would create a collection of short student tutorials to walk Ss through assignment submissions & completion. We r Microsoft too so OneNote is our preferred app for annotations. Pick 1-2 apps and have Ts practice being the “student” so they r familiar w the student iPad experience.

At the beginning of the year we do a set-up session with all new staff and then follow up with individual coaching to get basics in place. Settings, Apple Classroom, digital whiteboards, screen mirroring etc. Is this move for teachers & students? Our Ts have a MacBook & iPad but Ss only iPad.
