MP’s remain in caucus at the pleasure of party leadership, and can be kicked out of caucus at their whim.

Is that a betrayal of democratic norms and an insult to voters?

Or just Westminster rules at work?

Enough. Cons would be celebrating if the floor crossings were going the other way.

The only reason I can see for PP staying is that nobody else wants to stick their neck out, and spar with the intellectual powerhouse that is Mark Carney.

The only “dirty backroom deal” I saw last year was when PP lost his own seat in the general election, and the MP for Battle River-Crowfoot was persuaded to give up his seat for PP to have a do-over, in exchange for a nice cushy consulting gig in Toronto

Wasn’t it like 2 weeks ago that she was standing up in Commons, complaining about “dirty backroom deals” as the only explanation for Conservatives crossing the floor ??

And I have worked with her previously, in engineering.

I think of her as more of an elitist and opportunist, rather than a voice of the people
