Made sure to do the Backloggd 1998 event while ensuring I included every game I've played that was released that year

Kinda the impression I got when trying the demo. The concept is genuinely super cool and it's interesting seeing how the story can divulge into a completely different game, but the core narrative didn't strike me as all that impressive.

Still very happy to see it exist and might try it for cheap

This and the price drop were necessary IMO. The inclusion of it driving up the price was both damaging their own sales and driving the value proposition way out of normalcy.

Legit just went through four straight games that looked awesome, saw they were roguelikes, and immediately felt the excitement drain from my body

Don't get me wrong. I absolutely love indies and will champion their existence and passion to my deathbed

But can I stop seeing so many great looking ones end up being roguelikes? It isn't inherently a bad genre, but it's so easy to fuck up not to mention how bloody saturated the genre is now

Shame so many of the newer character designs are kinda rough. Particularly Mizuki and Anran

Like Journey or Far Lone Sails for example have fantastic art direction, but Journey has its underlying narrative + swift movement, while Far Lone Sails has the intricate machine-maintenance mechanics

Shame to hear about Replaced being purely eye candy. Hate to admit I saw the writing on the wall after playing the demo, but it still sucks. Absolutely adore adventure games that sport uniquely beautiful artstyles, but there needs to be some degree of substance to go with that

Amazing how under the radar this is for so many people. Genuinely is one of the greatest survival games out there, and that's coming from someone who typically doesn't like this genre
