If he goes, it will be after the locals.

The idea that he's worse than Truss is alarming.
No idea, sorry.
We'll be seeing it up north too - first few days are Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield.
Oh, and if you specifically want more women cycling, stop sending cycle routes through parks.
I remain baffled by the idea that sports cycling is seen as a way to promote everyday cycling.
Enjoy the spectacle, but if you want more people to cycle, then provide infrastructure.
If this is any reflection on his time as DPP, it does feel inevitable that there will be a wave of stories about his conduct when he finally goes.
Ah yes, nowt like supporting the town centre by… undercutting the council car parks and therefore damaging public finances?
My article with a couple of photos of a destroyed dropped kerb, one showing it made safe with barriers, but unusable. If you need a plain text version, please let me know.
In the April edition of #HighwaysMagazine, I ponder a move to "maintaining accessibility" as being a better approach to faults within walking and wheeling space rather than "making safe".
Lovely bit of datavis in today's @manchestermill.bsky.social
With more and more cars year after year, and with each year's new car model a little bigger than last year's, before long every street will look like this.
Increasing carfree spaces is the way to avoid this fate. But beyond a few barriers, that requires leaders willing to take on #UKCarCulture.
The weather is good and the students are back. Expect big numbers today.
Can't wait for the One Levy meltdown.
Straight through Marple!
Unfortunately, yes.
Less silly ones are also available.
Yep. Road was closed.
They look like a troll account. Lots of arsey replies to disparate groups of people.
Don't worry, folks, just the Manchester Marathon.
(Yes I did have a nice time. No I didn't get to ride a bike.)
Back from a short trip to Paris.
There's a new town just south of Disneyland. It's pastiche, but the streetscape is immaculate and just so much better than any newbuild I've seen in the UK. Footways block-paved, car parking hidden away.
Why can't we do this stuff here?
A portrait video from RJB Paving showing a vehicle crossing installed in Colchester over a footway. It is to a suburban house with a white and blue camper van parked on the front garden with the new vehicle crossing constructed with an asphalt surface that falls from the rear of footway to dropped kerb.
This is a still from a clip from Facebook of a contractor's finished work to install a dropped kerb in Colchester, Essex which of course slopes it from the back of footway to the dropped kerb, which is not in line with national guidance.

The signs are up, and Salford’s second camera enforced school street is ready to go for the new term on Monday! 🚶♀️ 🛴 🚲
All my notifications were repeats. I feel robbed.
If you've read one of the seemingly endless articles about the University of Sheffield's UK swear map but haven't found a link to the actual sodding study, here you go:

Looks like an email needs to be sent!
What's the empty weight of a typical UK bin truck?
How much damage could one cause by:
– parking half its wheels on a pavement
– driving over a canal bridge with a 7T limit?
Inspired by this video youtu.be/etwt75kYYhk I thought I'd explore some of the statistics around car access and deprivation with some #datavis and analysis.
Usefully, the 2021 Census in the UK asked questions around car ownership as well as many aspects of 'deprivation'. So here is 📊 🧵... [1/8]
Post by @themagpiesmiles.bsky.aocial If drivers didn’t get out of your way you’d be another white bike on the side of the highway. Literally every time a car passes you they make room for you. It’s easy. Pull your bike over when there’s a line of cars behind you. Some people have jobs to go to, kids to take to school and live on a
One to report and block.
Someone's going on a blocklist.
Given his attempt as a minister to reintroduce imperial weights and measures, are we sure he's not asking for more fax machines?
