I’ve heard stories from my grandma and others from that time how scary it was and how much relief they all felt when there was finally a vaccine. When my grandma passed I found vaccine books she kept from when her kids got their polio vaccines.

My dad had polio when he was 18 months and wore his leg brace his entire life. About 20 years old, he developed post polio syndrome and ended up in a wheelchair because his legs were so weak.

I remember my dad talking about you all the time when I was a kid. He was so proud of the writer you are!
