The Fourth Circuit used one word to describe what DOGE did with your personal data: ‘alarming.’ Here’s what that means for you.
I’ve seen some hot takes that people aren’t interested in politicians knocking on their doors anymore.
That is NOT what @macdeford.bsky.social and I experienced today. People want to meet their politicians and know they care.
Lace up your shoes and get to work, y’all. We got a state to flip!
12 South carolina legislators just made attacking same-sex marriage their top priority.
Twelve state legislators just called on the Supreme Court to overturn same-sex marriage in South Carolina. This is government overreach, plain and simple. The government has no business policing who you love or who you marry. None.
While families in the Lowcountry are stretched thin paying for groceries and rent, these twelve representatives chose to spend their time trying to tear apart their neighbors' marriages.
I'm running for Congress to get government out of your personal life and focused on your actual problems. That's not a Democratic value or a Republican value. That's an American value.”
Can't afford gas. Can't afford groceries. Can't afford to get sick. And 12 SC legislators just made attacking same-sex marriage their top priority. Let that sink in.
For too long, people have counted Democrats out in SC-01. But this campaign is proving that when you put forward a candidate who knows this district, has served this community, and is ready to fight for the Lowcountry, we can flip SC-01.
This is the Lowcountry. And this is our campaign. #SC01
As we wrap up Women’s History Month, we honor the generations of women who have fought for opportunity, equality, and the right to make decisions about their own lives, health, and future.

Sixteen years ago, America made a promise that health care should not be only for the wealthy or the well-connected. That promise is worth defending.

It’s official. Yesterday I filed to run for Congress in South Carolina’s 1st District. We’re in this race, and we’re ready to rock and roll.
Today, I officially filed to run for Congress in South Carolina’s 1st District.
The people of this district need a fighter, not another politician focused on headlines, cable hits, and political games.
I’m ready to take this seat back and make Washington answer to the Lowcountry.
Today is Mac’s 37th birthday!
From serving in the U.S. Coast Guard to fighting for the Lowcountry, Mac has always believed in putting people first.
To celebrate, we’re asking supporters to chip in $37 to help power this campaign in honor of Mac's 37th birthday.

That is the ruling that made unlimited outside spending by individuals constitutionally protected. Citizens United expanded that logic to corporations and unions.
That door was opened much earlier in Buckley v. Valeo (1976), when the Supreme Court held that while Congress can limit direct contributions to candidates, it generally cannot limit independent expenditures.
Citizens United dealt with corporate and union independent spending, not with whether wealthy individuals can spend unlimited money independently.
Citizens United did *not* do this with respect to individual donor giving (billionaires). The culprit is Buckley v. Valeo (1976).
I have taken zero corporate PAC or special interest money.
Disagree with me if you want. But do not invent a position I did not take and pretend you are making a valid argument.
I have also been clear that support for Israel’s right to exist does not require blind support for every action of its government, nor does it require silence in the face of human rights violations.
Congress has an independent constitutional duty here. Whether Republicans refuse to do their job is a separate failure, but it does not excuse or legitimize what Trump did.
I have made clear that Donald Trump had no right to drag this country into war without congressional authorization, and that doing so put American service members and American families at risk without a clearly defined strategy, endgame, or accounting of the cost.
Joe, you can read my press releases. I have condemned Trump’s military actions in the strongest sense, both legally and morally.
Meanwhile, the war is already estimated to be costing about $3.7 billion in its first 100 hours. Americans deserve better than another unauthorized war and another bill they are forced to pay.
The Iranian regime is a threat. But so is a presidency that ignores the Constitution. Donald Trump started this war without congressional authorization and without clearly telling the American people the end game or the cost.

Join me for a public town hall - 3/23 at 6:30 PM - Bluffton High School.
This town hall is for all of Beaufort & Jasper Counties. I want to hear directly from you about the challenges facing our communities, the future of the nation, & what kind of leadership we need to move the Lowcountry forward.
Join our campaign today at www.defordforcongress.com
Looking forward to meeting with 10 VFW posts tomorrow & spending time listening to fellow veterans about the issues facing our community. I hoped Alex Pelbath could join us, but I understand schedules happen. I even picked up a small history-themed gift for him. Alex, let me know where to send it.
I’m a U.S. Coast Guard veteran, and I’m furious. While a Coast Guardsman was missing at sea, Secretary Kristi Noem tried to pull aircraft from the search, and her team threatened Coast Guard flight crews over a heated blanket. Reckless. Disgraceful. Kristi Noem is unfit for public office.
