Flat white and a mocha on a wooden tray on a white table.
Alice Good. Flat white and a mocha.
Chickpea hash with a scoop of smashed avocado and a red ring of the disappointing mango hot sauce.
#Dinner posting like a good Bluesky user. Chickpea hash. Pretty good but the mango hot sauce I made was disappointingly mild. Those dried guajillo peppers really let me down.
I mean, I'm all in favor of acting where there are people willing to act against the Flock surveillance state, but I view Middleton and Fitchburg as places where it'll be easier to win in a political sense. So I think there's more "easy" victories to get.
*different Flock CONTRACT (oops)
If I were trying to figure out where to go after Flock next, I think that Middleton and Fitchburg are the obvious places. Fitchburg already got rid of one Flock camera, but has Flock cameras on a different Flock camera.
Channel 3000 coverage of the vote. Controversial license plate reader system indeed! www.channel3000.com/news/dane-co...
Shoutout to everyone who testified against Flock, especially my colleague Verona Alder Beth Tucker Long, who had good technical testimony, which I thought was helpful.
This motion passes! It was nearly derailed by a debate over the Sheriffs budget, but it passed. Flock will be out at Dane County at the end of May. Only Supervisor Michael Engelberger voted against it. (Supervisor Jeff Weigand would have probably voted against it as well, but he was absent)
Also - Thursday, 4/16 7 PM - the Flock contract is being considered at the Dane County Board. More info in the thread. I'm happy to see Chad Kemp, who represents the Verona area at the Dane County Board, to be a sponsor for this bill. More info here: www.reddit.com/r/madisonwi/...
Dane County (Madison) is actively considering whether to end its Flock contract.
We reported on this push (and on Mayor Luke Diaz’s role in it) last month: boltsmag.org/verona-wisco...
Listening to Dream Songs: The Essential Joe Hisaishi (Studio Ghibli composer) while it storms outside. Feels nice.
I hate Microsoft OneDrive so much. [ToS violation]
In most cases, the IRS knows exactly how much you owe. Years ago, either I or H&R Block made a mistake on my tax return and the IRS sent me a bill + a penalty for the remainder. They know how much I owe! No reason to make it complicated other than to get H&R Block some of our money.
My position is that developers need to build commercial anyway, because it makes the spaces more resilient and better for the people who live there
A sign that says Elevator Equiptment Room
I was in the Verona City Hall basement and....*groan*.
Another good sign - Dane County's Finance Committee voted to quit using Flock. It's still got to pass the board. I think we're going to win on this.
Mysterious backstory - they could reference the accent but never explain it.
A couple years ago, either I or HR Block made a mistake on my taxes. The IRS sent me a bill for the remaining amount along with a penalty. They know how much I owe! There's no reason for me to have to pay HR Block money when the IRS already knows how much I owe!
That's probably my favorite quote from the whole series.
WisDoT hates Milwaukee so much.
Putting an environmentalist in charge of California would be good and is reason enough to enthusiastically vote for Steyer IMO, regardless of his flaws.
Black text on a white background that says: Public Safety & Welfare Committee 1. Discussion and Possible Action Re: Application for a Class "B" Fermented Malt Beverage and Reserve "Class B" Intoxicating Liquor License from Tapatios, LLC d/b/a Tapatios Verona, located at 100 Cross Country Rd.
If you're wondering what's going in the old Pasqual's location in Verona, there's a liquor license application for Monday April 13th's Council Meeting for that location from the same folks who run Tapatios in Fitchburg.
Text that has Verona, WI voter stats and says: 5,448 Total Votes; 52% Voter Turnout; 27% Voted Absentee; 73% Voted In-Person at the Polls.
Election day went very smoothly. 52% turnout for a Spring election is pretty good IMO. Verona didn't experience any notable problems.

An Isthmus article that says: The big issues on your April 7 ballot in Madison City council candidates are talking a lot about housing but, surprisingly, not much about rising property taxes. Apr 3, 2026 Liam Beran
There was this Isthmus article which noted that Madison City Council candidates didn't talk about property taxes. Considering the Fitchburg Mayor's race (wheel tax) and that Nino Amato ran for Dane County Board on property taxes and he didn't win. Maybe complaining about taxes isn't a winning issue?
Julia Arata-Fratta wins re-election as Fitchburg Mayor against a conservative challenger, which in some ways is not surprising. However, Fitchburg recently had a referendum fail and consequently, Fitchburg passed a wheel tax, which people were mad at and Julia supported. Didn't seem to matter.
