Christ. Having just finished the brilliant Resident Evil: Requiem, this sounds like something the Umbrella Corporation came up with.

That's nice of you to say so Sam - the editor Mike Goldsmith was a big fan of cool, designer mags, so he definitely wanted it to have that feel, of something luxury, "grown up", beautiful.

Look how many staff there are on the mag too! We had 3 or 4 designers, two production editors, I think 6 writers plus a hefty freelance budget and money to spend on commissioning art for features/covers. Happy days.

Yes I think so - I seem to remember there was a record shop below us as well, but I may have mis-remembered. In that photo I was busy playing some of the demo games to feature in the news section - my desk is actually next to Sam Richards (2 in the photo).

Yeah basically Sony didn't want us to use that "PS2" logo after issue 1 because it was reserved for hardware only. So, we had to switch to the "PlayStation 2 Official Magazine-UK" logo for the second issue - not ideal, but we got away with it.

Ah, the memories! We were very happy with the slick design of OPS2 Mag - apart from having to change the mag's logo immediately after publishing issue 1...
