I didn’t watch soaps, but my cousin was a regular on General Hospital for years; I’d buy the SOD when he appeared on the cover so I could wave it in my soap-fan friends’ faces & make them squee.

My Sunday TV Guide ritual in the early years of cable, when suddenly there were multiple shows I wanted to see, was plotting out my videotaping vs. live-watching schedule for the coming week.
Yes! One of the few movies I can actually recall (with delight) the experience of watching. Another is The Green Knight (2021).
🤣
If you're interested in participating in WisCon Online but a procrastinator like me, the Interest Survey is still open! You can see what panels you might want to attend (or even be in!) until April 26. #wiscon48
A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Yes, it’s silly but there’s not a wasted line in it and every single song is an earworm. And any amateur theater group in the world can put it on and make it work.
40 posts in 2 hours, all about his impeachments & the 2029 election.
That Man has spent the last hour frantically posting and re-posting “breaking” news items about the 2020 election being stolen. Some fresh terrible poll numbers must have just dropped.
I was just trying to explain to my 24-year-old son why that show was so incredible. Time to re-watch. Thanks for the reminder!

He was my first thought!
Just dug out my copy of Arcadia and discovered a folded clipping of the rapturous 1995 NYT piece on Stoppard tied to the Lincoln Center production then in previews.
My students always ask me this and I always say "it depends" -- structure? Richard II. Symbolism? Richard II again. Emotion? Lear or Winter's Tale. Language? Othello. Laughs? Much Ado. Character? Antony & Cleopatra, hands down. Favorite to teach? Merchant of Venice.
Pete Hegseth was 14 when Pulp Fiction came out and I’m sure he thought it was the coolest thing ever and consumed it exactly like a modestly able 14 year old
Her disingenuous defenses of conservatism on KCRW’s Left, Right, and Center have been enraging me for years.
They tell the Pope to stay out of politics but call their own military maneuvers “literal miracles”?
Happy Tax Day, New York. We’re taxing the rich.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Increased Soma production will definitely make this a Brave New World!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
My lord, even when they ADMIT they're lying ("This doesn't look staged, does it?") they still pile more lies on top of the lies they admit to!
Vanceseems to think that you can separate politics and morality and the church should stay out of the first one, even when it involves the mass slaughter of children. There is a thing in Matthew 6:3 about your right hand not knowing what your left hand is doing, but it's about charity, not murder.
JD Vance, who confuses Catholicism and Methodism, is lecturing the Pope on how to do his job. Was this guy a DEI hire by president desperate to hire a white male with facial hair?
HI I'M ONE OF THE GUESTS OF HONOUR
TELL THEM YOU'RE EXCITED TO HAVE A HUGE GIANT TERRIBLE INSECT AS A GOH
Or I guess you could talk about panels and stuff since they're asking about panels
Anyway I hope lots of people attend! It is ALL VIRTUAL!
The innate antisemitism of the "Mercy vs. Law" trope has been the central point of my class discussions of Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice since I started teaching it 35 years ago.
I'm a volunteer panel organizer this year and we have tons of exciting online convos planned -- join us!
It's actually nearly plausible to me that if he spots a picture of himself he's laser-focused on his own face and notices nothing else.
