Thank you Sarah. I know a number of meadows here that are full of Cuckoo flowers in spring, but I realized today that seeing so many at once is quite special, both in the NL and even in the UK. This privately owned field was app. 6 hectares and a joy to behold. Very special for me as well!

For those who have seen my latest post of the picture I took of the Cuckoo flower meadow for #WildflowerHour & #CabbageFamily. This video shows how beautiful this place is, even with drizzle.

Hi! Not a problem at all—thanks for asking. The image is completely real, not AI-generated. The colors are quite high-contrast, and sometimes my Samsung camera struggles a bit with getting the color balance right, especially with pinks and bright yellows 😀

Indeed! They spread very easily: put a leaf on damp soil and it soon takes root. Mowing can sometimes help - after flowering, which is why they grow so abundantly in fields.

Thanks, always nice that you’re thinking along! I wasn’t sure—my ID said 50% vulgaris, 20% intermedia. B. intermedia is pretty rare in my area.

An unexpected combination: Cuckoo flower with Primula denticulata and Geranium pyrenaicum in a perennial wadi-border, right in the heart of the city #CabbageFamily #WildflowerHour

Spring at its finest in the wet woodland reserves. I came across the mysterious Herb Paris, Oxlip and Moschatel lighting everything up 🌼

Beautiful turbulent cloud skies this afternoon: Asperatus undulatus. The wave-like motions form in an unstable atmosphere with strong wind shear.

I love strolling through nurseries teeming with wild plants— and among them, cowslips always catch my eye—thankfully, in their authentic, native form. 🌼

A little #CowslipChallenge science for #WildflowerHour. They're heterostyly -2 flower morphs:
🔹S (short-styled, stamens above)
🔹L (long-styled, stigma above)
They only cross-pollinate, and healthy populations have both morphs in a 50:50 ratio—an indicator of genetic diversity and meadow health 🌿

Chaotic skies this morning 🌥️
Altocumulus lenticularis clouds forming—smooth, lens-shaped layers sculpted by strong winds. A clear sign the atmosphere is up to something interesting 👀 (pic 4)

What a year for Red Deathnettle! It’s carpeting lawns all over my neighbourhood and absolutely buzzing with bumblebees. It looks gorgeous alongside bulbs like Grape-hyacinth (Muscari armeniacum) and Glory-of-the-snow (Chionodoxa luciliae) #WildflowerHour

It's taken in a nature reserve in my area - Weerribben-Wieden National Park, the Netherlands, in a Molinea meadow. Around here, the plant is still pretty common, especially in lowland peat areas.
