INSANITY MELEE ONLY IN 3:19:35!!! I was the first person to achieve this without infinite durability, but now I've taken it even further with a full speedrun category. It's INCREDIBLY difficult, and there are exceptions where you need to use a gun, but I'm really happy with this.

I agree with that then. The toxicity is still present, but nowhere near as loud. It is heavily diminished by the broader communities ability to shed a positive light on the hobby by uplifting people who advocate for inclusivity, teaching newcomers, and weeding out bad actors.
I do not miss that stuff either, but... I raise the question: Did speedrunning ever truly have a golden age? If not, would the majority of people agree that we are possibly IN the golden age as we speak? Furthermore, do we even need to define a "golden age" for our hobby? 🤔
