"Okay. So I use this one brush that makes really small squares. Actually, that's all I use..."

I've definitely been hit with a wave of motivation for game development this past month or 2. I've been putting in a lot of time without feeling a desire to stop.
I try to keep the sound effects to either just the noise channel or pulse 2 channel. The noise channel is used for the musics percussion so interrupting that for a sound effect is barely noticeable. The lead for the music tracks is on pulse 1, so when pulse 2 is used for sounds it's also subtle.
The funny thing is that I didn't think this was possible to fix. I thought it was the Game Boy being a Game Boy. I specifically made a "mute SFX in battles" option for the player because of how jarring it could be. I guess it's a redundant setting now. 😆
Sound effects used to cut all 4 audio channels in my Game Boy game. Now they only cut 1 or 2. This allows for most of the audio channels to keep playing the music while a sound effect is happening!

I'VE FIXED THE SOUND! 🎵
Anyone who's seen my older videos or played my old builds may have noticed that sound effects would cut the music briefly. Thanks to the help of users on Discord and some hex editing tools, this is no longer the case!

pixel art of a fantast creature in the style of the original pokemon. it is a light green snake monster with large eyes and a dark green leaf on its forehead. four large sprites represent the front and back views of the creature, and then eight smaller sprites represent its icon on the overworld
sssss
That should protect him! Now he can concentrate on more important things such as what's for dinner!
I hope you had a nice birthday!
He also likes to think about peace. After all, that's what all true warriors strive for.
I hope you feel better soon.
Little guy! 🐉
There's also now a little spinning sprite in the bottom left corner when making your character to show you what you will look like when walking about!
I'm glad that all of this isn't causing any noticeable lag on the Game Boy.
You gotta toot when you gotta toot.
A collection of 4 screenshots of a real Game Boy RPG called Dovvee's reQuest. The screenshots show the same area but with the player character looking slightly different in each of them.
I recently posted about a new character creator I made for my Game Boy RPG, Dovvee's reQuest. It allows you to change how you look in menus. Now it changes your overworld sprite too! The changes can be quite subtle.
Here's 4 examples! 🐉

Happy birthday! ❤️
I'm telling you. It's just a coincidence that the current game I'm developing and the last game I developed both feature playable anthropomorphic dragons.
A COINCIDENCE!
I wasn't initially interested in Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. Now I've seen how extensive the character creator in it is and I've become somewhat curious...
I'm planning on having a system that allows players to choose the appearance of their favorite armor piece while wearing something else. So you can keep the look of your favorite armor while getting the stats of the stronger piece.
Just to clarify.
The screenshots on the right show different players wearing the same armor. The armor looks slightly different depending on the players appearance. The screenshots on the left show them without armor.
For example. Fluffy thighs can keep their fluffy thighs even with armor on!
That was a very detailed explanation. Thank you! I'll definitely try to keep things scaled by 300%, 500% or 800% in the future!
It was a PNG originally. Bluesky converted it into a JPEG and then sometime later reconverted it into a WebP. It seems the blurring is a known issue though. I hope it gets fixed.
To compensate for all the new body types I redrew every armor piece multiple times. I think I made about 600 unique graphical tiles to get this to work! I couldn't just overlay sprites due to hitting the Game Boys limitations.
Fashionable! 🐉👕

Thanks.
How are we going to overheat our computers with 1,000,000,000 cans now?!
All of the characters features are stored in a single integer to conserve memory. I could possibly add more options in the future. That lone integer number can still be expanded on!
Wahoo!
Sadly I don't think Bandai Namco would allow me to use Renamon. 😆
