If Edinburgh Uni, with no operational deficit, gets to sack 1800 people, imagine what this will signal to more fiscally challenged Scottish universities?
MSPs need to realise that this is more than a local crisis – we need urgent public scrutiny of Edinburgh’s governance.

Excellent piece by @notrightruth.bsky.social about trans community as the antidote to trans despair.

mistranslation as oracle!
Just got myself a ticket, and am really looking forward to seeing this!
Thanks Campbell!
All famines are man-made, all famines are political. Historians of empire and humanitarianism have known this forever. Gaza is not starving, Gaza is being starved, by Israel, and this starvation is enabled by our government and by every other government that does not step in to force food and aid.
I probably should have posted this earlier, but I'm giving a talk tonight—open to all online!

Jesus Christ, every day brings another attack on our basic freedoms. How is a person supposed to reply to emails, mark essays, carry on with everyday life…
These are the reasons the Supreme Court gave for refusing to hear from the trans intervenors (whilst agreeing to hear from many transphobes).
None.
Our legal team of three barristers included two who are now KCs.
(I have redacted the Registrar's signature.)
The UK's human rights commission seems to be labouring under the misunderstanding that its role is to decide to whom human rights apply, rather than to ensure all are granted them...
Truly sickened by this

The immensely frustrating thing here is that this opinion hinges on the immutability of sex (to tie all trans people to our "birth sex") while also acknowledging the mutability of sex to justify the exclusion of transitioned men from single-sex spaces.
Degendering for everyone!
It shouldn't have to be like this.
An entire minority shouldn't be sitting, terrified, that the UK Supreme Court is going to remove their rights off the back of a decade-long hate campaign.
It shouldn't have to be like this.
Anyway, happy covid anniversary to me.
More people are claiming disability benefits because more people are sick. It is that simple.
At the very same time that 1.3 million people in the UK reported having had long covid for over year.
For a time, the news seemed terribly interested in the missing million workers in the UK. Asking night after night on television, who are these economically inactive people? Where have they gone?
I do know, however, that deep cuts to disability benefits are cruel and senseless.
Much of the ways we become ill or disabled feel beyond sense-making.
And I wish I had some profound take-home message about it. I don't.
It's coming up to five years of me having long covid, and I've been thinking about it a lot recently. I cannot even begin to express how life changing this illness has been.
But thei were all of them deceivid for anothir environment-killinge plagiarism machyne was made
brb, off to make cheese on toast
(the prayer in question: Christus fuit natus de uirgine maria et Johannis de Elisabeth. Adjuro te infans per patrem et filium et spiritum sanctum si puer […] puella. Christus te appellat foras.)

The expectant mother was supposed to eat the cheese, of course.

Was telling my girlfriend about medieval prayers written on cheese to expedite childbirth, and she doubted its feasibility. So obviously I've just spent ten minutes of my Sunday writing a prayer on some cheese.
