For the record, I'm not watching this shite. I just find this show deeply fascinating from a cynical point of view.

I feel like the only way to do a HP show is something more traditional. A 22 episode season with long-running arcs and "filler" episodes that explore school life and the world in a smaller but deeper way. Something not as beholden to nostalgia or complete adherence to the narrative.

The movies didn't have a lot of time, but they made up for that with their relatively loose narrative structures. The early films especially are total comfort food for tons of people for that reason. Many of the longer installments resemble hang-out movies for pretty long stretches.

Harry Potter feels almost impossible to adapt into the prestige TV machine without losing a lot of what makes it so special. 10 episodes is more than a two hour movie, but it's still trapped within some pretty tight confines that I think will harm it long term.

Think we just need to collectively understand that the right wing has no real leg to stand on when it comes to outrage over a candidate they don't like. Hard to humour them being outraged at the other side when they're actively and proudly protecting pedophiles.

I predict The Super Mario Galaxy Movie to be fine. Completely inoffensive fluff like the first one that'll probably get a bit overhyped by gamers cheering at the jingling keys nostalgia of it all. I was charmed by some of that too in the previous film so I can't say it doesn't work!

"Donald Glover is Yoshi"
Well, Nintendo has absolutely destroyed my lifelong fan cast dream of Childish Gambino as Yoshi. Thanks, Miyamoto.

I come back to Bluesky and like a day later the CEO steps down. My influence!

A potentially fun deconstructive idea ripe to be a film with some teeth that's been squandered by some of the most tryhard writing and tonal work I've seen in a while. Rare to see a movie tell you it's gonna be a stinker right from the opening scene. Not surprised it isn't hitting with people.

Remember finding this shockingly poor even as someone who enjoys Adam McKay's work. It's the smug attitude of that awful end credit scene in Vice stretched out across a nauseating 2.5 hour film.

Remember getting Bluesky when Elon Musk initially was killing Twitter and never really caught onto it. Not really expecting it to stick again but eh here I am. At least there aren't as many Nazis.
