RFK Jr. released a video to the Minamata Convention on Mercury where he lied about vaccines.

He said “no amount of mercury should ever be injected into a child” & urged a global ban on thimerosal-containing vaccines.

Good thing: no child IS injected with mercury.

He'll make mistakes and be imperfect but when it's sabotage, name it loudly. Don't let people forget who is really screwing them. The robber barons can't abide hope. So hope. Remember what tonight feels like and keep it alight. Keep showing up when they screw with buses and zoning. Hold the line.

Energy retailers to be directed to offer free power three hours a day Saying there is enough solar power for everyone in the daytime, Climate Change Minister Chris Bowen will direct retailers to provide three hours of free power every day to consumers.

Absolutely amazing: they've got so much solar in Australia that they need more people to use more of it, so the gov't has instructed energy retailers to offer *at least three hours of free power* during the middle of the day.

Meanwhile fossil-addled US struggles with an energy-price crisis ...

Today, Mike Johnson will keep the House adjourned for the 91st day out of the last 103.

12 days of work in 103 days.

With full pay and benefits.

The senate has been working, so this is not about the shutdown.

It is about avoiding a vote to release the Epstein files.

The crossing guards near my sons’ old schools are ignored by multiple cars every single day. It’s always amazing to behold how dangerous it is to cross the road even when it’s your job to keep everyone safe.

Global GHG emissions showing a flat line at about 15MtCO2eq, where countries submitted, with a slight decline in emissions to 2035. A rising line from 35 to 55MtCO2eq shows global emissions, and the commitments at the last round of NDCs leading to flattish emissions.

Where are we on climate action?

The bottom black line is countries that submitted new commitments (on time), the dotted line is global emissions. Blue shading are the commitments.

That is the progress 10 years after Paris...

I regret to inform everyone that my pedantic brain couldn’t let me live until I knew whether or not dodger blue and blue jays blue are the same blue. They are ONE PANTONE NUMBER APART.

Waymo robots sometimes loiter. They also use bus stops for pickup & drop off contributing to several crashes as buses try to get around them.

Generally, robots struggle w large vehicles and seem not to understand them. Recent Waymo-bus crashes are discussed in this thread.

Open Source LLM 'Nanochat' - and Doesn't Use Vibe Coding
/ EditorDavid 12 hours ago
An anonymous reader shared this report from Gizmodo: It's been over a year since OpenAl cofounder Andrej Karpathy exited the company. In the time since he's been gone, he coined and popularized the term "vibe coding" to describe the practice of farming out coding projects to Al tools. But earlier this week, when he released his own open source model called nanochat, he admitted that he wrote the whole thing by hand, vibes be damned.
Nanochat, according to Karpathy, is a minimal, from scratch, full-stack training/inference pipeline" that is designed to let anyone build a large language model with a ChatGPT-style chatbot interface in a matter of hours and for as little as $100. Karpathy said the project contains about 8,000 lines of "quite clean code," which he wrote by hand - not necessarily by choice, but because he found Al tools couldn't do what he needed.
"It's basically entirely hand-written (with tab autocomplete)," he wrote. "I tried to use claude/codex agents a few times but they just didn't work well enough at all and net unhelpful."

We don't have much time on this planet and the worst things a person can do to another person is to rob them of their joy and happiness. Too much of this is happening due to the current American regime.
