Saw Ritchie Blackmore discussing his riff for Deep Purple's Smoke On The Water on a doc today. He said Pete Townshend had told him, "Keep things simple. You've got to take the audience with you". Ritchie called the advice "profound". Great to think it may have led to one of rock's best-known riffs!
The voiceover by the BBC's Justin Rowlatt on a lunchtime news report about energy prices was so echoey, it sounded like he was in the lav.
"No, nurse, I said hold my *calls*."
The application has remained stable since the evening of April 16 and we have seen no evidence of unauthorized access to private user data. Given the ongoing stability, this will be our final update.
"ACIEED! Rain."
"Back, and to the alt-right."
Ha!
That's probably why we mistook him for Wilcox.
@herring1967.bsky.social What are your thoughts on MPs' proposals for removing signs that limit games to people with no balls, to get the nation active, Rich?

RIP Desmond Morris. Ashamed to say that when we saw his death reported on the lunchtime news, both me and my missus said, "I thought he died ages ago" and, "Wasn't he married to Esther Rantzen?". Had to Google to find out we'd mistaken him for Desmond Wilcox.
When he began the "Beguines"!
40 Years Ago (Apr. 20, 1986): Pete Townshend begins writing "Beguines, Tangos and Love", his never released follow up to "White City". #TheWho
That man has taste!
I imagine Victoria enjoyed TV Burp, given so much of her own comedy parodied TV shows.
10 years since Victoria Wood left us- but we were lucky, as team Burp, to have this picture with her at the BAFTAs back in the day X
It is.
I still haven't gotten over the fact that Pete said in an interview about that track, that Speedy later told him the lyric was meant to be, "I'm an ear sitting in the sky".
Fair.
Fishfinger spliffs get you mashed and you keep singing Give Peas a Chance.
Ellie Norwood as Sherlock Holmes? Was he the great grandad of AI actor Tilly Norwood?

Bet the shopkeeper's favourite song is ELO's Don't Bring Me Down.
Headline: 'A red kite took my mother-in-law's sausage rolls'.
Les Dawson.
"It's the only time something she's cooked has risen."
Missing inaction.
A letter to act on.
A big thumbs up to @talkingpicturestv.bsky.social for showing the Channel 4 paranormal series Fortean TV presented by Reverend Lionel Fanthorpe and from the producers of Eurotrash. I found an ultra-rare Network DVD of this in Blackpool a couple of years back. I bought it on the spot. ๐
Not sure how long it'll be on there!
