Information leaflets for victims of strangulation - Institute for Addressing Strangulation The Institute for Addressing Strangulation was established in 2022 following the introduction of new legislation on strangulation and suffocation as a stand-alone offence.

Research suggests that only ~50% of people who are strangled will have any visible injury to the neck or head.

Our updated information leaflet breaks down the signs and symptoms of strangulation, in the long term and short term, and dispels common myths.
