I'm sorry, but for the foreseeable future I am going to be promoting my wife's book, which has just had an excellent review in the Sunday Times which for some reason is posted online on a Wednesday. Also she's doing a book tour. #booksky
As wealth concentrates, so does power — the power to influence elections, shape policy, tilt markets and define the terms of public debate.
Taxing billionaires is not radical.
What is radical is allowing a system where extreme wealth exists alongside widespread hardship.

I'm doing a walk and talk about native plants at my local park this afternoon and I'm so happy I put together my native plant guide back when I was taking classes. It's hard to remember everything but it comes back fast when you've got references!
Orban losing would have huge positive implications worldwide. I keep checking for updates and muttering "count faster"! I'm also so wary of projections, even with 30% of the vote counted so far.
We were out at the coast last year for a day trip and were talking to a couple who had never seen the PNW before. It was very sweet watching them just be in awe at the scenery.
A message from Tuna Acisu asking for help maintaining cherry blossom record in Kyoto Japan.
A figure showing the cherry tree record since 812 from world in data.
A 1200+ year climate record is at risk. Do you know know anyone in Japan who could help? See below.
thanks faddah!
This looks like a fun event coming up this weekend in #pdx! I think imagination is an absolute necessity when deciding what we want our future to be. The future isn't written, and I think projects like these help remind us of that.

they get out there and do their best every day to make it at least a little worse for all of us. really putting the work in.
It's impossible to keep up with it. My guess is that they rolled it out so quietly because around 75% of the people in the USA say they believe that public federal lands should remain public, so anything that threatens that, like this USFS change, will be wildly unpopular.
I need to do a deep dive on this tomorrow, but the Trump administration basically dismantled the US Forest Service last week, and did it so quietly I don't think anyone even knows that it happened or what it means.

I did it! I moved the past 5 years worth of newsletter writing onto the new site at hopefulnature.studio. Very happy that this is done!
i don't think i'd care for that either!
I don’t know that I care for the year of the fire horse.
oh my goodness these photos are lovely!
Purple and white spanish bluebells growing on a hillside.
Saw some invasive bluebells in the park yesterday and am now considering doing some guerilla weeding. We've spent hours clearing that area and replanting with native plants for wildlife and these pretty little weeds are sneaky!
A chart from Our World In Data, showing the shift away from coal power in the UK - nearly 70% of electricity production in the late 1980s, to less than 0.1% in 2025.
There's a lot being shared right now about China's incredible shift towards renewable energy - and rightly so.
But this, from the UK, is equally astonishing & encouraging.
It's not just that change can happen. It's that it *is* happening.

I'm having a lot of fun playing with this feed and think I got it in a good spot today!
This was such a fun meetup and people came with so many great questions and ideas.
