Our April chapter meeting is this Wednesday at 7 on Zoom, welcoming visiting CCLers from Olympia!
The recent Washington State legislative session was disappointing for environmental concerns, but many excellent bills, like balcony solar, bottle recycling, wildlife passages, and data center restrictions got sizable support, and the groundwork is in place for next year!
A list of the most effective ways an individual can catalyze change at the scale we need to effectively tackle climate change, based on social science.
I’m a scientist who studies how climate change impacts our lives and the places we love.
Most of us are worried, but many feel stuck on what to do. If that's the way you feel, check out this list below!
We can’t fix it alone, but I know we can together. 💚
British data scientist Hannah Ritchie finds measurable gains the world is making on climate action, offering a grounded, hopeful look at where progress is happening and why it matters. Read more here: e360.yale.edu/features/han...
The legislation would make sales tax exceptions for data centers contingent on facilities using clean energy. However, other lawmakers in the state have proposed removing the tax exemption altogether, as the state aims to increase tax revenue. insideclimatenews.org/news/2302202...
Balcony solar plug-in systems would massively increase access to clean solar energy for homes and apartments! In a word, "democratizing" solar. Help pass WA state's bill HB2296, by visiting leg.wa.gov and signing in "PRO"
Our monthly meeting is this Wednesday, February. 18, at 7pm on Zoom. We have a speaker on solar!
image of Water flows from a pipe as a person holds their hand underneath to collect it, illustrating limited access to clean water with the text: “Nearly 75% of the world’s population lives in water-insecure countries, and 4 billion people experience severe water scarcity for at least one month each year.”
Based on a new U.N. report, nearly 75% of the world’s population now lives in countries facing some level of water insecurity. Long-term overuse, pollution, and climate stress are shrinking rivers, lakes, and groundwater, putting communities, food systems, and livelihoods at risk.
We are pushing balcony (simplified) solar in WA! It is one of 22 states with that type of bill this legislative session. The House and Senate bill numbers are 2296 and 6050. You can help! Sign in "PRO" at leg.wa.gov.

Great News! The state Recycling Reform Act passed the floor this week and is headed to the governor's desk! This could not have been achieved without the advocacy of constituents like us at CCL Tacoma.
HAPPY EARTH DAY! Do something nice for our beautiful blue and green planet today....
Important new study shows that the best way to power data centers is with solar microgrids!
Also, 1.5 million Germans have hung solar panels off their balconies this year, and now Spaniards are copying them!
Also, kids in Montana win huge climate fight!
