I don't mean to be impolite, but this chart is stupidly hard to read. It says cumulative, however it shows cases at the end of 2025 to be over 2000 and starting 2026 to be 0. If you want to make a good science point, please do not use a chart that shows measles cases resetting to 0 each January
At 1 liike, clearly this post has not received the attention it deserves
Xmas ornaments from Aunt Judy, 2025. & a happy new year 2026 to all!
A new year's reminder - persistence pays off!
(follow up to my year old post asking - what country will the USA try to annex next? The answer - and none of us guessed - Venezuela! <Should we have known? World's largest oil reserves. More than Kuwait, and way more than Viet Nam>) (my graphic)
I have a concept of a plan for a wall which will rapidly solve the leaf blower problem
Claudia Cardinale may have passed away today, but for some of us she will always be Angelica Sedara in 1963
(Il Gatopardo with Alain Delon, in the eye patch, and Burt Lancaster, who was brought is as an American star and modelled his role after the Italian director, L. Visconti)

However my admiration for Hillary has been unwavering. Here she gives an interview on the NYKER Political Scene Podcast. Listening to her speak on this podcast, at age 77 no less - a powerhouse of experience and level-headedness she remains.

some will remember my ill fated post from 2016 when I explained, calmly and with great self assurance, how the demographics of the USA would result in Mr. Trump losing to Secretary (H) Clinton despite his early election lead. I was, we might say, wrong.

From that cool skiing film with Hackman to Jeremiah Johnson and the other fantastic Sydney Pollack productions, to the solo sailing epic All is Lost, Mr Redford made films magnetic, epic and personal all at once. Even the old men hiking film with Nick Nolte
The reason they are claiming he did not draw the pic (which may be true) is because they do not want to discuss that his signature forms the woman's pubic hair in the birthday wishes. Do not join in in following the dead end - it's not about the pic, but about the signed author of the note
Politically though, an exchange among professionals in the same party does not really rate until one of them calls the other a pedophile
Toronto on a muugy Fri. Coming back from the island after a sailboat club (casual) race. City waterfront good. Weekend may now begin
The part I don't get is why @theverge.com is using a (desaturated) picture of Kara Swisher on their Musk article
They were not kidding around at Ashbridges Bay tonight (Queen Victoria Day, like in 1901, but with better fireworks)
me and the pretty girl (Bella) at the lake. I wear a scarf; she just stands there in the (very cold) water.......
Part II, with the sun

I am not religious but in 2001 I was backpacking in Italy & ended up in the Vatican city on the day (Wednesdays?) when the Pope comes out to speak. In the heat the many other visitors treated the Vatican water fountains like they were a religious experience. The love was infectious, and I joined in
The BBC isone of the best at news AND entertainment. Gold star to you, the ever-fine British Broadcast Corporation (except for getting rid of the HardTalk podcast, which is, clearly, a crime against humanity)

Obviously any curling fan will note that EM throws second, not third. I was clearly in delirium. Also, the number of missed shots so far by these world champions is not only refreshing but a downright relief. Throwing rocks on the ice is hard
I'm only sorry I will not be there in person to see the mighty Team Homan take on team Mouat in the Battle of the Sexes Curling event in a few minutes. May my sports crush Emma Miskew (team Homan 3rd) sweep the male team into oblivion!

When the public political rhetoric is airing a lot of, well, knucklehead talk, it's nice to see my feed always has smart people making reasonable comments. This is NY Governor Hochul, who I was not familiar with. She sure sounds great:

note that 'life jacket' does somehow qualify as a legally mandated life preserver. And makes a better seat than those modern, functional life preservers
Shiny beach things in the wind (Woodbine Winter Stations, today)
I could see myself at the winter stations at the beach
When you say Bernie is unlikely to run again, you mean when he's 87? I agree. I also expect he will not run in 8 years when he's 91.
The argument (made in the quoted article) that we can be assured that an individual (Musk) is not in it just for power, because he risks everything - including long-term retention of power - in order to get as much power as he can right now - is what we might call 'really not a great argument'.

I am making this post because Bluesky seems to fail at searching for a person by their handle or username. So if someone searches for me, maybe they find this post.
Also my Github handle is Burlindu, so Burlindu Burlindu. Searches, not search engines!
