As an experiment I tried vibe-coding something I had no idea how to write - a compiler from my new language into rust. At some point I lost comprehension of what was going on, so I asked CC to write me a tutorial. Result: I now know rust. Kinda.

I'm dreaming of software that has only a small set of really simple options, and a "make it so" button that you press when you want to do something there's no button for. Like start with a simple notepad, oops I need italics, I select a word and say "italics", hey presto, new button. And so on.

It's all definitely begun to degrade... not to mention not a single innovation worth the name. Which is what happens when visionary leadership is replaced by bean-counters.

Merry Christmas all of you out there. I’m considering shutting down this Bluesky thing - it’s just somehow become a river of misery… I mean I get that times are tough but this isn’t the feed I need. I think I’m gonna maintain it long enough to get all my friends onto my new app and then peace out.

miso 30.1 : porting to android, first go on wispr-flow YouTube video

Continuing with the Android porting process, just diving in there and wiring up the toolbar, and getting images and editing kind of working. Today trying out a dictation tool called "wispr flow" that purports to revolutionise Claude Code, and whaddaya know it's pretty good.

miso 30 : porting to android YouTube video

Our putative user #1 didn't pan out - so let's increase the likelihood of finding a new one by bringing the Android version up to date. And, in so doing, build a better understanding of the outlines of a magic "port this to anything" button. Which is nice.

Since we're about to have two real users instead of one pretend one, we need to make sure that push notifications work - badging the app icon to show when there's new stuff to see.

I’m interested in the idea that more people could be empowered to build their own tools and not be restricted by what the “industry” decides they need. From this pov liberating “programming” from “programming languages” seems a worthwhile goal. Working with the new agents, it feels close.

Well, it’s an experiment, not a religious position - I’m just trying it out. I’m curious as to why you feel it’s the wrong path.

I’m getting decent results coding in natural language / pseudocode (still have to maintain architecture) and letting an LLM convert down to iOS, android and flask/PostgreSQL code blocks. Works tolerably well when you keep the module sizes small. Lots to improve still but it feels promising.
