The same people that want you forget that there is free TV over the air want you to forget there is free baseball over the air. And, hot take, chilling outside in the sun listening to a baseball game on the radio is the best way to experience a game if you can't be there. #MLB #Radio #FreeMedia

The central family PC needs to make a return.
This sounds like exactly what I was looking for. Luckily my unit hasn't had much in the way of heat.
Any of my amateur radio friends or electrically inclined people on here know if I can safely convert my LiFePO4 battery charger from the silly clamps to power poles? I don't really see why not, but I want to make sure I'm not missing something. #HamRadio #Electronics
Hoping to get onto 146.52, 446.00, and 50.125. need those VHF/UHF contacts.
This looks great! Thanks!
The FCC website is the worst part of the whole process.
What kind of antenna are you using here?
I always heard that if your antenna doesn't get knocked down by a storm or wind, it wasn't tall enough.
Oh you named your servers after Firefly characters? Very quirk chungus of you.
Hot take: Servers should be named $location-$function-number. Naming your servers after the Simpsons is neither funny nor useful. "Wait, which server did you say is the SQL server?"
"Oh that's Bart!"
Literally the worst. #IT #Sysadmin
it’s monday vibe from office space movie
it’s monday again
Well done!
It was WIDE open. Fully worked England, Spain, and Belgium.
First time getting the HF gear out of the apartment and into the field. All the equipment exceeded my expectations! Bands were open and crowded! (10m & 20m @ 20w FT8) #HamRadio
It's the Chameleon 17ft whip with EMP cloth plus speaker wire radials for the groundplane. So a bit of column A a bit of column B. Just built the proper pota performer radials, hoping to take that out this weekend. I can only get on 10m at home since that's as high as my ceilings allow 🤣
This was on 20w. These are a lot of spots, but not a ton of QSOs. Did work Aruba fully. Being on the 3rd floor is doing a lot of heavy lifting here I'm sure.
A Ham radio propagation map going exclusively into south America.
I was testing my vertical antenna setup in my livingroom before taking the setup into the field. My apartment is essentially a concrete tube with a single large window on the third floor. Can you tell what direction my window faces? (FT8 on 10m) #HamRadio
CB is a lot of fun! Ham is a lot more vast than CB though. It's not just voice. It's digital modes, sending emails, and talking to satellites. Also volunteering for your community for disaster aid and working civic events. It's a fulfilling hobby!
I live in an urban apartment. For VHF, I have a mag mount mobile antenna on a cookie sheet. Let's me talk on the immediate repeaters near me. For HF, an FT-891 and setting up the pota rig in the living room gets me on 10m until I can get back out to a park and fully extend the whip.
For VHF, if you can't get an antenna outside, a magmount on a cookie sheet is usable. Crude, but effective enough to talk on repeaters.
Desperately trying not to be the "Umm actually ☝️🤓" person about using ham radio
Looks like y'all will be on FT8 a bit, that is my current obsession, but will keep an eye out for SSB too.
Great view!
Nah, its a useful hobby. I just got my general license a few weeks ago. Now I've got my portable kit ready to go. Going to hit some parks this weekend.
I have assembled my full HF kit. Determined to get out and do some portable ops this weekend even if it's chilly and cloudy. #HamRadio
For reference, we usually have 2ish learn to curl events a month normally. This year we have been having 3-4 a week and they are all sold out. We expect about 2000 people to have participated in an LTC with us.
What kind of antenna are you running for pota? I am thinking of building the pota performer since stringing up something in a tree isn't always an option here.
I have been eyeing that as the primary candidate for a while now. Seems like the best option I can use right now. Then build a permanent shack once I have a more permanent place I want to settle down in.
Ah! I think I may have stumbled on this a while ago. Definitely adding to the "projects" bookmark.
