Yep. Poor belted galloways. I was embarrassed for everyone involved.

No I hadn't seen that. Sadly the farmers I know round here are mostly interested in putting up fences to stop people going anywhere and killing wildlife. Oh, and one did spray St George's cross flags on all his cows.
My son is now 15 and we no longer live in London, but I have such happy memories of us taking the DLR for no other reason than to do this when he was little. The added joy of it being a journey with no destination, no purpose other than itself...
HOLY SHIT.
A dark money group, hidden behind a bunch of shell companies, is paying influencers thousands of dollars PER POST to attack @katmabu.bsky.social on social media a month before her election.
Thank you to the people who declined the money and went forward with this. So who's behind this?
I met with AI data labelers in Kenya who are organizing their colleagues to fight the brutal working conditions and horrible pay given to the workers at the "bottom of the AI supply chain." They believe the NDAs they've signed are unenforceable so are speaking out:

I’ve just seen an American TV programme refer to a pub crawl. Cultural appropriation has gone too far.
This is what a rigged economy looks like.
An accurate description of much of what's playing out.
But humans are not mindless automatons, programmed to relentlessly kill off life on Earth, and most of the destruction is down to power structures that value only profit.
We HAVE the capacity to put the gear into reverse. Rewilding is how.
A £240m defence contract without tender.
Their fingerprints all over our health care data.
A meeting in the USA but without any minutes.
Everything around Palantir stinks.

US military sites across Britain have quietly multiplied. Findings expose how deeply the UK has become a US-run war hub with no accountability

Sending this to the various intelligent, articulate people I know who voted for brexit. They always believe they had good reasons ("at the time"), but in reality they were always just doing what these people wanted...
Space-based data centres are the CCS of big tech. They'll just be perpetually around the corner, there will be a handful of flimsy demonstration projects, and the concept will just suck up gov't subsidies for decades while serving as a rhetorical tool to fend off real regulation of industry
Drug laws have never stopped people from using drugs.
They've stopped people from using drugs safely.
It's time to legalise *and* regulate.

“There’s no single answer that will solve all our future problems. There’s no magic bullet. Instead there are thousands of answers—at least. You can be one of them if you choose to be.”

“Without significant increases in the UK food system and supply chain resilience, it is unlikely the UK would be able to maintain food security if ecosystem collapse drives geopolitical competition for food.” open.substack.com/pub/climatem...
Ned Kelly looking like he’s about to open a toast cafe in Shoreditch.
Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

“Basically, what we are finding is that people hate AI.”
As Firefox pushes AI on its users, Vivaldi does the complete opposite. Even more reason to try it.
Amazon is producing a web series on #regenerativeagriculture. They are asking experts to pay a fee to be featured. So if you see a special on Amazon about regenerative ag, understand those expert voices were actually bought. Who has the cash to afford these placements? Corporations with an agenda!
regenerative agriculture results!!
we are beginning to garden *at scale*
(aka simple practices informed by *soil* microbiology & biochemistry and not treating the earth as though it were rockwool)

Video shows a speeded up edit of the process of making potting mix starting with compost from a sack, worm compost from a bathtub & diverting into the process of making charcoal in an open metal kiln. Finally the ingredients are mixed in a wheelbarrow & ready on the potting bench.
Our potting mix has 3 ingredients & is the foundation of producing healthy plants for sale. With a base of Sylvagrow organic peat-free compost It uses locally sourced "waste" organic matter to feed the worms, comfrey and nettle grown on site + brash from garden work to make biochar.

Good work. Important work.
The UK gov has finally released the Global biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and national security report. We face catastrophe. Why aren't politicians acting? I think some are - but in ways perhaps just as frightening.
My latest for Technosphere Earth.

A short thread and a simple truth.
FULL UPDATE!: We learn from the Times in this morning’s paper that indeed as I surmised (see thread below) the Govt >haven’t< released an unredacted version of this bombshell report. What a scandal.
