A view down an asphalt path between two fields in a city park. On either side, cherry trees, heavy with pink blossom reach over the path to form an arch. The grass beside the path is dappled with sunshine.
A view of a park from underneath a cherry tree toward another path that is lined with pink cherry trees, coming into blossom. It's a sunny day but the picture can't capture the brisk, chilly breeze.
The cherry trees are starting to put on a show for people on the Meadows. #Edinburgh #Spring

Photo taken from the audience with the backs of people heads and then a stage with four seated women. The woman in the far right is talking and gesticulating with her hands. The back of the stage has a sign for the EdScience Fest, visible organ pipes and a large arch to the ceiling.

I agree with your initial post, and definitely about improving job security for early career researchers but I don't think it's necessarily a red flag if the senior author handles the promotional aspects of publishing.
There's a lot of turn-over though so the first author may have moved on before publication.

The quality english batters are at the top for their domestic sides, then we go into internationals with batters who don't know how to bat in the middle order. It's why moving Jones up to open never made sense to me.
Slow, spinning pitches should have offered a chance to shine eg. Pakistan v England.
If I were New Zealand, Sri Lanka, or Pakistan, I'd be pretty grumpy.
