Latest update: We have engaged in positive discussions with vendors who were making these changes and have reached an amicable compromise, but Equity continues to push our guidance and best practice for any video games work.
Attempts by some videogames vendors to delay buyout payments to performers are unacceptable. Pay and conditions in videogames are already lagging behind the rest of the industry and Equity is working to raise standards, not roll them back.

We’ve heard reports of a producer offering to make free showreel footage & inviting actors to their home for this. Physical auditions & similar should always be held in appropriate & recognised workspaces. Do not meet in anyone’s home or alone in a hotel room

Cracking Branch Meeting last night! We'd like to thank our visiting Councillor from the Midlands, Tonia Daley-Campbell, for delivering our Council Report & to our 3 intrepid @equityuk.bsky.social staff members (Anna, Karen & Kirsten) for delivering our Anti-Fascist Training Taster Session.
Why we're boycotting the government's BBC Charter Survey:
👉Absence of workforce consideration
👉Limited detail and scope
👉Possible use of AI to aggregate responses, likely to generate overly simplistic conclusions

UK performers are losing out on overseas work because of the heavy admin & financial burden of taking UK artists to the EU. Yesterday Equity's Head of Policy Tom Peters was in Parliament at the CMS select committee calling for changes to make touring easier for UK artists.
Equity will continue to pursue non-payments with liquidators and with Manchester City council for more than 50 members owed money from the 2025 event.

This follows the news that Pride will return to Manchester in August 2026, with newly founded Manchester Village Pride Community Interest Company, run by village businesses and community stakeholders, set to deliver the event after the collapse of Manchester Pride Ltd in October 2025.
Equity is delighted to announce that Manchester Village Pride will be the first Pride event to sign a UK union agreement.
The Class Ceiling report is right to call for changes to increase the number of working class people in the arts. For that to happen we need trade union agreements guaranteeing fair pay & conditions - only then will the arts be a feasible career for many

A group of approximately 20 people of diverse ages and backgrounds pose indoors in a blue-walled room. Most are seated or standing while holding up black posters with colorful text that reads, "MARCH FOR LOVE. FOR UNITY. FOR HOPE. TOGETHER" and "LOVE IS BACK." The bottom of the posters mentions a march on Saturday, 28th March in Central London. The atmosphere is collaborative and organized, with pamphlets and bags visible on the tables in the foreground.
A large, dense crowd of protesters gathered in a public square in front of historic stone buildings under an overcast sky. Many individuals are wearing beanies and winter coats. The crowd is a sea of signs and flags; prominent light blue flags feature the "National Education Union" logo, while participants hold numerous black posters with the slogans "HOPE IS BACK" and "MARCH FOR LOVE. FOR UNITY. FOR HOPE. TOGETHER."
A large group of activists stands together in a high-ceilinged hall with brick arches and pillars. In the center, a large purple banner for the "TUC London, East & South East" is held high. Every person in the group is holding a sign, creating a wall of black posters with bold pink and white text reading "UNITY IS BACK" or the multi-colored "MARCH FOR LOVE" design. The setting appears to be a formal meeting or community space, with several people in the front row smiling at the camera.
Organised. United. Ready to fill the streets with hope and unity.

Today we remember the six million Jewish people murdered during the Holocaust. We remember too, the millions more murdered under Nazi persecution & the genocides that have followed.
We stand united against hatred and prejudice today.
